I want to say “thank you” to Frank Principi, the Woodbridge Supervisor. I am glad to see that my supervisor has the moral courage to stand up against the anti-illegal immigration policy and for his principles, even against the majority on the board.

I don’t condone or advocate breaking the law.

However, I think it is important to remember that the people who immigrate to this country are people who are looking for a better life for themselves and their families and deserve common decency and respect.

If you had no job and no hope for the future, what wouldn’t you do to keep your family fed and sheltered?

We’ve already discovered that this ill-conceived program is more expensive than the board anticipated at a time when county revenues are declining. The board should have been able to find something more substantive for the “rainy day” fund than a program that shows just how mean spirited a community can become.

Ray, we agree on the border but that is a federal issue. I think would be wrong for local law enforcement to pick and choose which laws to enforce based on budgetary reasons. We could decide not to pursue or prosecute anyone guilt of lynching, rape, bank robbery and assault. That would save a few dollars in the budget.

Read “the dark side of illegal immigration”
here is a link that will give you some insight to border issues. it has some good info on the drugs coming over our border.

Mr. Halleman, according to supporters of the Resolution, it will pay for itself with the savings generated by removing illegals from the population. If they can pay for the Resolution without raising my taxes I’ll support it too. I’m willing to give them one Budget cycle to see where it shakes out. And, I’ll agree with the other posters, illegal is illegal and that argument should not be mixed in with the financial argument. If they have pennies in their pocket to spend, and don’t mind reducing funding other programs such as parks, police, fire & rescue, schools etc then let them go forth and we’ll see whose argument is correct in the end. My money is on the fact PWC is leaving one barn door open while they chase folks out the other barn door. If you don’t seal the border, nothing will be accomplished.

ill conceived program ? Is he referring to enforcing the law ? Lets save some more money. Lets ignore lynch mobs, drug dealers ( especially in school zones), rapists and we’ll throw in assault to keep the news amusing. Funding should be no reason to turn a blind eye to those who blatantly break the laws.

Thank you Mr. Principi for stand against the rule of law.
Thank you Mr. Principi for ignore your voters when they say enough is enough.
Thank you Mr. Principi your opposition against the resolution that will make Prince William County a sanctuary city, where illegal immigrants can commit crimes and never deported.
Thank you Mr. Principy for take care of taxpayer’s dollars, offering all kind benefits and welfare to illegal immigrants. This is something that many citizen and legal residents do not have.
Thank you Mr. Principi for open the door and welcome more illegal immigrants.
Thank you Mr. Principi for protect the unscrupulous employers who hire illegal immigrants, do not provide benefits and pay depressed wages.
Thank you Mr Principi for…............................................................

Don’t confuse the two issues Mr. Halleman. Yes those that immigrate legally are a welcome addition while those that break the law to come or stay here are not welcome. Budgets go up and down each year depending on the economy. When did forcing the law become mean spirited? So the next time I get a ticket should I consider that mean spirited? Do we now have selective laws that apply to one race but not another? As I have stated, get your liberal friends together and run a campaign to be a County Supervisor with a platform of letting illegal immigrants stay in the community. Let’s see how many votes you get. And when you loose, please don’t play the sour grapes game.

Its good to see that the proverbial ostrich is alive and well although it has sand running out of its ears. I don’t understand how a person can say, I support the law ... but I applaud breaking the law!?!? There are means available for immigrants wanting to enter this country and work for a better life, plain and simple, and they have been in place for many years. ILLEGAL ALIENS are thieves who steal from all Americans (born and naturalized). The ostrich may not care about passing a great America on to its children and grand-children but I sure as heck care about mine. Standing against the law does not take MORAL COURAGE ... it takes a LACK of courage, morality, and conviction.

Again, the resolution has paid for itself in spades already.  Fairfax is now picking up our tab for ESOL to the tune of $6 MILLION.

Immigration is great, but illegal immigration is a scourge.

You may not realize that you are refering to two totally different peoples in you letter. One is the Illegal Immigrants which are really Illegal Aliens. The other is Immigrants. These are two totally separate groups of people. One is here legally. The other is not. Your argument “If you had no job and no hope for the future, what wouldn’t you do to keep your family fed and sheltered?“ doesn’t hold water. Would you then commit armed robbery or murder to support your family. Illegal is Illegal. We welcome the Immigrant. We detest the Illegal Alien and the supporters thereof.
