Today, I want to thank everyone in our community that helped to stand against the hate being perpetrated by Greg Letiecq’s Black Velvet Bruce Li blog. The below video helps all people better understand exactly what Greg and the contributors to his blog think about our immigrant brothers and sisters and their children.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuEGM_erDno

I consider Greg a dangerous man and his blog and extremist nativist organization (according to the Southern Poverty Law Center) a serious threat to our community. First he creates his hate filled blog, then he goes on to assassinate the character of some members of our community, then he helps create an extremist nativist organization and becomes its president, then he links up with the
Immigration Reform Law Institute and asks Michael Hethmon (who worked for many years as a staff attorney for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, a hate group according to the Southern
Poverty Law Center) to write the first draft of the Prince William County anti-illegal immigration resolution, then he asks Vice-Chairman John Stirrup to sponsor the resolution which Stirrup gladly does.

Greg has been the catalyst and perpetrator of this hateful costly behavior from the beginning and he enjoys bragging about much of this in his recent Front Line newsletter.

A few years ago Prince William County passed a resolution declaring it to be a hate free zone. I endorse our supervisors for having the courage to stand against the hate being perpetrated in Letiecq’s blog.

Two weeks ago the supervisors voted to change the resolution. An important vote that opened the door for healing to begin in our community. Since then, at least one supervisor has received serious threats as a result of the changes that were made to the resolution. Intimidation and hate are powerful forces that can be used to shape public policy if we stand by and let it happen. Again, I applaud our supervisors and county government for their courage to stand against this ugly behavior and I challenge other members of our community to do the same, especially our houses of worship and business
community. NOT IN OUR TOWN!

Chris, the point being on Bay cleanup that it will take generations to restore the Bay, yet we should not dismiss the small steps that improve the Bay along the way. Same with immigration. We are not shipping 12 million home anytime soon, so we need to take some small steps towards the end goal. Documenting and collecting taxes would be a first step. As for our construction (remodeling really) we restore as required by the locality. Remodeling is more recycling and earth friendly than new construction. Should businesses stop polluting? Hell Yes. But politicians are fueled by business so laws aren’t as strict as they should be. Who elects these people?
Where you turn people off to your arguments are when you say things like building new homes is “ludicrous and downright criminal”. While this may be your opinion - and I happen to agree with it - it is not criminal to build if the County issues a permit. Unless of course all our elected officials are walking, talking, daily criminals that should be behind bars. You need to distinguish between what you don’t like and what is actually illegal. As much as you wish it were so, it is not reality.
And lastly, what does Iraq have to do with illegal immigration? MONEY. Funds that could be used for border security are being spent on a War of Reelection (see Scott’s new book). $2 billion a week spent in Iraq - forget who’s position is right - that cannot be spent on problems we have here at home. I say again your immigration issue will never be resolved until the border is sealed, and funds to seal that border are being shipped to the Middle East. What we have here is you like chocolate ice cream and I like vanilla and we will never convince the other “our” flavor tastes better than theirs. I say again, illegal immigration does not affect me so I am not as emotional about it as you are. For me, this is a game of words I like to play. Nothing more.

Sorry Ray, i know how in your liberal mind that things that are said are easily distorted and changed , for i never said that she had to renew her resident papers. She has been in the US longer then you have been alive, more than likely, she had her legal alien card renewed, end of story. Ray why should their be any compromise on breaking the law? Millions of legal immigrants wait in line why should millions more be allowed to cut? Is that really fair? Ray the Bay won’t be cleaned up until businesses stop emptying their raw sewage into it. Will businesses be willing to do this at cost to their business? Try to answer that one. What do you do with the runoff from your construction business or the damage that you inflict by cutting down trees, bushes, etc. Do you plant trees and bushes to replace the ones you took down? Or is this the price of doing business? This county does not need more houses, it has enough. To be building more houses now is ludicrous and downright criminal. Ron, illegal is still illegal and it is a crime, if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. Their employers should have been jailed as well. Doesn’t matter what the party affiliation of the employer is. Do you hear me complaining about the millions of illegal alien voters who typically vote Democrat? Even though by law they are not allowed too. Same principle. Lastly Ray what does Iraq have to do with the bigger problem of “Illegal Immigration”? Of course i have been waiting for these answers for months and those months will become years. Chris Cummings

PWC needs to give Chris a refund on his education. Chris, do you see the word “citizen” in my statement? Is your mom a citizen of the USA? I’m sure she is as legal as legal can be and a wonderful woman as well, but if she is not a citizen, she cannot vote. Since you said in an earlier post she had just renewed her Resident Papers, that would indicated she is not a citizen of the USA, as we Americans do not need to renew our citizenship. Get it? A simple YES or NO reply will work. And nice to see you once again come out in support of LEGAL immigrants, despite your other comments hanging high-fives when immigrants are forced out of their homes. You’re a hard one to figure!

Regarding Iraq, I simply refer you to Scott McClellan’s report of why our Mexican border security dollars were spent on securing the Iraq border. Enough said there.

Good job ICE for raiding that plant in Iowa. Now they should take down the employer as welll, i do agree with you about that. Lets make it worse for the associates and accomplices of the illegals. Chris Cummings

Be careful where you tread Ray, my mom is legal, do you understand that word? Or do you cloak yourself in justice, truth and equality only if it benefits your bank account. You are just a mere apologist and not much better than a coyote, human trafficker, or a slave owner. As fo Ron i am assuming he pays lip service to blacks, Hispanics, and other ethnicities. Personally i find both of you characters reprehensible, racist, and downright rotten and just plain wrong especially with your claims to be helping us all. Such grandeur and megalomania displayed by two cartoons of America. What you have actually done is dug a deeper hole for the legal citizens of the US to get out of especially regarding the budget and the National Debt. Iraq is a drop in the bucket compared to the “National Nightmare of Illegal Immigration”. IN 2006 and 2007 more people were killed by illegal immigrants then in the Wars against Iraq and Afghanistan and the costs associated with illegal immigrants is also higher in that 2 year span then since the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Pretty easy to understand where our priorities should be. I agree we can start unwinding our troops from Iraq and send a few more to Afghanistan as needed. We can also send more to our borders as well. Does that make sense Ray? Chris Cummings

Easy answer Ray, fine the illegals and their employers as well as deportation. Hardly Ron, Bush, Clinton and Obama and McCain are all weak on illegal immigration. Although with states and local governments the fact that more people realize how much of a serious problem illegal immigration is and they are taking action, and their will be more to come, despite Ron Charest’s baseless and typical liberal cries of racism against all that don’t believe his opinion. REALID would cut down on Social Services fraud as well as helping to make it difficult for illegals to gain illegal housing and illegal employment. Did everybody see that wonderful 9500 Liberty video of the poor business owner who obviously was catering to illegals since his business dropped 40%? His business is in illegal central. Proper enforcement of all laws pertaining to hiring, housing, transporting, aiding and abetting. As many have said a fence is a minor deterrent for some, but a deterrent nonetheless. Maryland, D.C., Fairfax all deserve the higher taxes that this influx of illegals will bring. If anything it is only fair, since they encouraged the problem to get worse. In fact those areas ought o take a vote and create their own Resolution against illegals, see how strong the support will be. Ron, Ray, KGotthardt, all you sad sacks will be crying then. Do you have a list of all these employers of illegals Ron? Do you know their party affiliations as well? Sounds like invasion of privacy their mister. I think you need to be investigated. Do you see black helicopters or is everything a conspiracy? Why should we give them first class tickets Ray, do you want to waste more than money on them other than through fraud, theft, and other means? LOL. Chris Cummings

barnun, as I’ve said, my plan is wide open for discussion. The point is “we” need to first stop the mud slinging and second decide if PWC residents are willing to put all their eggs in the Resolution basket. Although I don’t think the Resolution will have the desired results, I’m happy to sit back and watch as illegals don’t affect me in any way. For those that ARE concerned about illegal immigration, it seems to me they would be willing to search out other ideas that can mitigate their concerns. Any one that feels the Chris Cummings plan of giving them all first class tickets home and posting no trespassing signs on the border will work is going to be waiting a long time for relief.

Ron, you say the bush administration policies have filtered down. i beleive bush put forth an immigration plan and both sides of congress are guilty of not working together on it. somehow i dont believe the preisident gets to make specific choices on how illegals are dealt with. Reagan tried that and congress stabbed him and the american people in the back. Fine the employers, I’m all for it, always have been but that doesn’t change the fact that the illegals broke their First law with their first step over the river. Can we let the bank robbers out of jail now too ? They only robbed the bank because they wanted money and bank robbery is not always an easy task. I agreed with Ray on some ways of enforcement but i dont agree to just give a pass to people that disregard the laws. if we’re going to do that, i want a refund on some speeding tickets from when i was younger and all the insurance money I had to pay for it. Under the bleeding heart plan, we should import all teh poor people of the world.

Equality 7-252,

No, I think you did an excellent job explaining your thoughts.  I was trying to make a point that I consider key to this entire “Illegal is Illegal” garbage.

Our current national policy created by the Bush regime, as filtered down to the local level, is to harass and generally make the lives of undocumented workers a living hell.  By doing this, the administration gives the appearance of “Doing Something.“  In reality, what is happening is that very poor people are forced to live further “underground.“  Big Business employers are able to violate ever more wage and labor laws in hiring these people with no penalties.

A prime example is what happened in Iowa last week.  DHS raided a meat packing plant, hauled away nearly 400 undocumented workers which affected about 10 percent of the town’s population.  “Coincidentally,“ the meat packing plant, owned by a family with high-level ties to the Republican Party, was under investigation for dozens of labor and wage law violations.  By raiding the plant and hauling away most of the workers, it is now nearly impossible to continue the labor laws investigation - the witnesses and victims are gone.  The remaining workers are too terrified of being arrested to speak to ANY law officials, even tough they are legal residents or citizens of the US.

And for those screaming about how “Illegal’s” are stealing identities, it was the employers who helped their undocumented workers gain false SSNs and IDs.  For which the workers are now being charged with felonies.

And the well connected to Republican Party employers?  They hired more undocumented workers and had the plant running smoothly within days of being shutdown.

In effect, what is being done at the local level by BVBL and Cory Stewart is to continue to allow big business to violate labor laws, making it harder for small, honest business people like Raywilliams to compete. Oh, and it also gives the BVBL folks a chance to legally act out their racism.

Chris, I won’t touch on the fact your mom came here in the 1960’s and still is not a legal citizen. I assume she does not intend to stay and at some point will return to her “home”. Being a legal immigrant but not a citizen doesn’t give her opinion 2 cents worth of thought come election day.
I do want to address your comment “and many more came”. How, pray tell, do “many more” get here? Do they perhaps cross the border? If so, should securing the border be a top priority? You mentioned awhile ago (you don’t think I remember these thing do ya) that I supported border security simply because it would never happen. Well, not true. I support border security because as a business person, I know if you don’t close the barn door, the cows will keep leaving. You can spend millions on tracking your cattle, but if you don’t close the barn door, you’ll never solve the problem. BUT, until the barn door is closed, there ARE things we can do to make life in PWC more appealing to our residents. YOU, YOU, yes YOU work against our citizens and legal immigrants by not showing a willingness to compromise on your beliefs and work to take baby steps until the big picture is solved. I am a supporter of a clean Chesapeake Bay. I do not thumb my nose at any small program that benefits the Bay in order to ride my high-horse of wanting the Bay cleaned RIGHT NOW. I wish it could be cleaned in a year but understand it won’t and accept small steps towards that goal. Look in the mirror, the problem might just be you.
