The common sense of Obama

One of the most highly regarded economists from the Reagan years was former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker. He was one of the key players in setting the stage for prosperity during that era.
Volcker, a Democrat, got his start during the Kennedy Administration.

Today he is one of Barack Obama’s close economic advisers.  On the military side, the American public can look to Colin Powell who also supports Obama.

As the election draws near, it is important to recognize that these are the types of people who are Obama’s “pals”. These are the people who are creating a thoughtful plan that will help the most
Americans while also stimulating the economy.

These are the type of people who will devise a responsible drawdown of the war in Iraq with honor and respect.

Obama has proposed a series of refundable tax credits, including a $500 refund to low-and middle-income workers to offset Social Security payroll taxes; a $4,000 tax credit for college students paying
tuition and performing community service regardless of whether they pay income taxes and a tax credit covering 50 percent of child-care expenses up to $6,000 a year. The plan also offers a refundable 10
percent mortgage-interest tax credit for taxpayers who don’t itemize their deductions and an expansion of the earned-income tax credit that would give single workers as much as $555 annually, up from
$175 currently.

For the most part, these represent extensions of existing programs. The economic stimulus from these programs would also generate new federal and state tax dollars.

On the other hand, McCain-Palin are the ones who propose the most outrageous tax in modern times — they want to tax our health care benefits provided by our employers.  That way we can all pay for
extension of the Bush tax cuts for the rich and continuance of the $10 billion a month cost of the war.

McCain is a man of great courage who gave much to our country during the Vietnam War.

But this does not make him the best candidate for president. It is clear that Obama-Biden are putting together common sense proposals that will benefit the most Americans.

Vote Obama-Biden on Nov. 4.

“Always one side of the story with Democrats.“

pwanon, I read your post and I was impressed with the way you outlined BOTH sides of your interpertation of Obama policies. Oh sure, the casual reader may think you only cherry-picked select phrases from Obama’s plan and tried to make him look bad, but we know you - being “fair & balanced” took the extra time to shoot down your own arguement by showing us Obama’s goals for America are a net-plus for the country.

But really, I still don’t get why working class people support a candidate like John McCain that will raise their taxes and cut medicare benefits for the elderly?

McCain clearly states he supports the Bush Administration policy of tax cuts for the wealthy, trots out Joe the non-Plumber, who ‘hopes’ to earn over $250k one day and McCain tells Joe not to worry - because once he hits that magic $250k mark, he’ll get a TAX CUT.

Meanwhile, pwanon and his nickel and dime buddies will pay more taxes to carry the load of the wealthy.

I just don’t get it - but Thank You for looking out for my family and me.

I see more garden art coming with a McCain Administration.

“We are not buying Obama’s sweet talk! “

Awww, poor Scorpio.

Don’t feel bad.  Maybe in 2012 you can run Palin for Prez.  I’m sure she’ll be a big success!

hugs and kisses, jva.

Here is what I have to say to all this:
Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakhan, Frank Marshall Davis, Antoin “Tony” Rezko, William Ayers, Rashid Khalidi. The list keeps growing and who knows who else is going to appear next in the picture.
The LA Times has a video of Barack Obama toasting his radical former PLO operative friend Khalidi and his wife while attending a Jew bashing dinner, and they are refusing to release the video to the public.
I think we all know they would immediately release the tape if it were Sarah Palin making the toast.
We are not buying Obama’s sweet talk!
We want the facts behind the real Obama presented in the media instead of “he was 8 years old” stories!

“they want to tax our health care benefits provided by our employers.“

Which is offset, of course, by the tax credit he wants to provide directly to families.  Always one side of the story with Democrats.

In the meantime, let’s think about the “common sense” of Obama’s plan to “redistribute the wealth.“  As we learn more and more about the fact that this has been his philosophy all along, I wonder when, at any point in history, a government redistribution of wealth has worked to spur economic growth?  When has it ever been a long term recipe for success?

I’d guess that Cuba, North Korea, and the now defunct Soviet Union offer the stark reality of how such policies work in practice, rather than in feel-good theory.

The writer mentions Colin Powell as a reference for BHO…which I believe is the same Colin Powell who was savaged by Democrats after going to the UN to make the case for going to war in Iraq.

Let’s also mention other references for BHO…Bill Ayers, unrepentant domestic terrorist, and recipient of millions in taxpayer money from BHO for various education “projects.“  Can you imagine the surge of liberal anger if John McCain gave taxpayer money to scumbag abortion-clinic bomber Eric Rudolph?

Or perhaps Jeremiah Wright, who railed for decades about all white people being evil, and justified the murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11.  BHO was so offended by such racism and sympathy for terrorists that he did…nothing…except donate money to his good friend and “spiritual mentor”

How about the hundreds of thousands BHO has given to ACORN, an organization systematically devoted to voter registration fraud.  I think that’s called “conspiracy to commit voter fraud”.

But then again…we may be able to ask BHO about some of these details…but he hasn’t held a press conference in more than a month, so he stays well hidden and insulated from tough questions.

Kind of like insulating himself from tough choices in the Illinois State Senate by voting “present” an astounding number of times.

There has never been a less vetted, less fit candidate for the Presidency ever.  I cringe to think of the irreperable harm he will do to our national security, military, economy, and health care system.

Don’t take chances with America’s future.  Don’t risk the house on a political con man without a proven record of anything.  Don’t vote for BHO.

Those who can’t buy into Obama’s vision ought to at least ask themselves the question Ronald Reagan suggested in 1980, “Are you better off now than you were [8] years ago?“

Don’t be fooled by the hate talk or the fear-mongering or the claims to be “Mavericks” and reformers. McCain/Palin may be a different shade of lipstick, but it’s the same old pig…the same political philosophy that wants to enrich the rich in the hopes that some prosperity may trickle down to the rest of us; that you can spread freedom and democracy at the point of a gun while eroding those freedoms at home; that the ends justify the means; that the least among us must fend for themselves.

Fortunately polls are indicating that Americans from both sides of the aisle are joining together to support the candidate who recognizes that we’re all in this together and that we need real change, not a different shade of lipstick on the same old pig.

Vote Obama, Warner, Connolly on Nov. 4.
