The last time I remember this much excitement about a presidential election was when John Kennedy won his election. His daughter Caroline and brother Ted made the right decision to endorse Barack
Obama because he, like John Kennedy, inspires people by making them feel that they can improve themselves, their lives, their country. He offers the hope that we can do, and be, better, and that hope
is priceless.

Barack Obama does provide proof that no matter the color of your skin, you can make something of yourself. That is a good thing. Education was the key to his success. His grandparents struggled so that he could have the best education possible. Nothing worth anything comes without a price.

“I hope you are right, I really do, but my gut reaction is that he won’t”
Well, now we follow the old tried and true system of finding out who we elected. This is a part of the process and we do it with every president - shoot, every dogcatcher - we elect.
If we don’t like ‘em, we vote him out next go ‘round.
This is America at her best. Not a perfect system but one that has served us well for some 200 odd years.

I just wonder if we were less fearful when the 107-109th Congresses were Republican controlled and we had a Republican President.
Hey, did you hear that AIG has decided to hand out end year bonus’s to it executives and employee’s? to the tune of 500 million dollars…whooo hooo, now that’s some kind of trickle down.

“No one EVER follows through on what they say.” That is usually true if the both House and Senate are not of the same party as the President. That is were the checks and balances kick in. Obama has the advantage of having strong Democratic majorities in both. Thus it is far more likely that he will get what he wants.
“As an Obama supporter, I expect him to make good decisions based on current information, not hold to some ideology.” I hope you are right, I really do, but my gut reaction is that he won’t.

“I am saying that If he does what he promises”
I’m not an economist so I won’t debate the merits of Obama’s campaign proposals ... but I am an American citizen with a few miles under my belt.
I think most of us will agree that after the election was over, all talk of campaign “promises” is out the window. No one EVER follows through on what they say.
Case in point is President Bush: Gays are still getting married, abortions are still legal, the economy is NOT stronger .. all planks in his two campaigns.
Come January 20th and reality sets in, President Obama will deal with the problems based on what he feels will work, not looking back on what he “promised”.
As an Obama supporter, I expect him to make good decisions based on current information, not hold to some ideology.

“I see no reason to blame the current recession on a President who hasn’t taken office yet.” I am not blaming Oboma for the condition of the market today. I am saying that If he does what he promises’ and gives us his Jimmy Cater type economic policy’s the recession will be deeper and last longer than if the market was left a lone. Or better yet if he cut taxes, which he won’t. How do I know this? I listened to what he promised to do. This is not a vision of the future, it is basic economics.

“That is a future were we will all go.“
Jim, glad you got a look-see into the future with your crystal ball.
Any tips on the Redskin-Cowboys game this Sunday? Should I buy GM stock? When will the housing market start heading back up? Super Bowl winner?
Don’t be shy about sharing the rest of your visions of the future. Give us something so we know you’re for real.

Well, I am glad that you agree with me, though I see no need to drag the nuclar
engineer into it, lol. I see no reason to blame the current recession on a President who hasn’t taken office yet.
Remember, the President Elect has no power, no authority until Jan 20th at noon.

So now with the second coming of Jimmy Carter with Obama, in his economic policy’s, you will get to live through a Carter like recession again. If not worse. That is a future were we will all go.

NO, you changed the subject, I was talking about the future, it’s a place where your mind can’t go.
I don’t give a rat’s hindend about Jimmy Carter, I lived through that recession, and I voted against him.
