The wimps prevail in Prince William County

I am so sorry Prince William became such wimps. It was great to know someone was actually trying to help true
Americans, not the illegals who are sucking the life out of this once great country. I guess the word out is “forget it,” give them everything they want and let America suffer.

Our president is all for it, he wants to take down the borders that divide America and Mexico. Mexico advertising (from the government) goes to America by the millions.

If it were up to me, I would start handing out guns and declare war. We go all over the world and defend countries from invasion. I think it is time we defend our own country from invasion. I bet all the soldiers coming back are loving the fact they cannot find jobs because we gave them to illegals.

Just the fact they can’t support their families on their soldiers pay and now are not being able to get that second job to be able to pay for the overinflated mortgage and the overpriced fuel to heat or cool their house, or gas to drive back and forth to work. The illegals can afford it because they can live 30 to a house. They are allowed to be overlooked when it come to living
in a single family home with 20 or 30 people living there. Let a white or black American family try this and someone is going to jail and the children will be taken away by human services. The family will be taken apart.

No apologies, just hardship. I guess it is only fair, we pay the taxes, we fund the government that is to be protecting us. The illegals will live off of our hard work and taxes, claim anything they can to get free government money and services.

Our government will support them and deny these same service to Americans, the same people who go to war, pay taxes and have kept this country strong.

When I was growing up (years ago), people had 10 or more kids, and they all lived in 4 room houses.  In addition they took in parents, aunts, uncles, etc. I don’t recall outcries.  So what is the problem now? It is the housing market in the cities:  there are no low income (affordable) homes. People have to live somewhere. Everything can’t be “upscale”.

You say: “The illegals can afford it because they can live 30 to a house. They are allowed to be overlooked when it come to living in a single family home with 20 or 30 people living there.“
This type of stereotyping is offensive, devastating, and insensitive to any immigrant family. It is crazy to keep on making these types of assertions.

“Sucking the life out of this once great country”? That’s rather extreme, don’t you think?

Poor cobra - so ignorant of the American economic system.  The minimum wage is less than $6 a hr.  Va. is a “right to work for less” state.  How many wage increases have minimum wage workers had in recent years? Ain’t got anything to do with illegals - it’s just the American way to pay as little as possible, and to be anti-union.  The US ships jobs out of the US to exploit cheap labor elsewhere. Just good old greed.

Mr.Hogan, do you know what scapegoating means? is when you blame others for your missery, that is a typical approach of a frustrated American, now that we are suffering the consecuences of the Bush administration, high energy prices, health care costs, bad infrastructure, expensive education, high taxes, etc, what do we do? blame “illegal immigration” are we going to blame them for every pothole along 95 too? give me a break. citizens like you are part of the problem because you only say what you read in the media and what you hear from politicians like Cory Steward and Don’t have a mind of your own to look for a smart solution to the immigration problem. if the feds are not willing to fix the immigration problem why do you worry? give temporary visas to these people to work legally, let them pay taxes, and they will go home voluntarily
and probably they will never return.

I will agree with Mr Hogan that it’s ludicrous that we can send our soldiers to the sand to defend the borders of other countries while at the same time Our governemnt, for decades, has done such a lame job of protecting ours. Does anyone remember “the war on drugs”. There is a war going on with our own borders and we’ve been ignoring that for a long time.

Just watch Mike Hogan,
you will hear from the, ‘WE PAY TAX’S CROWD” on this posting. People making $6 hour don’t pay enough tax’s to off set one emergency room visit or to pay to educate and feed their 3 children in the school system. Just wait. You will hear from the normal anti-American crowd real soon.

You forgot to mention the 29,000 non-citizen members of our military.  Persons who fight and defend this country but don’t even have the right to vote or at least in your vision of Prince William County - live here.

You also write in your piece that you believe the economic downturn is because of illegals driving up prices.  Do you really believe that?  Cite your facts, please.  For example, with gas I am willing to pay upto $7/gal for gas.  At that point, my demand will drop thus releasing more supply into the system.  High gas prices exist because we won’t make the changes neccessary to lower the prices - namely cut consumption.

Nice.  Can you please define what a “True American” is?  Perhaps you can explain whose fault it is that soldiers cannot afford to support their families on their pay.  Whose fault is it that mortgages are overinflated and gas is ready to hit $4 a gallon?

Whose fault is it that “Illegals” are getting work here?  Perhaps it’s those “True Americans” illegally hiring them at below minimum wage, no benefits, and not taking withholdings taxes?

If you can’t find a job here, it is not because of illegals. It is because our big corporations have shipped most of our jobs to other countries, but not to Mexico, labor is not cheap enough in Mexico. Instead, the jobs are shipped to our enemies in China. If big business could figure out a way to build your house in China it would do that. The only reason you don’t have Chinese mowing your lawn is that China is afraid to open its prison doors for fear of having an empty country.
As for our soldiers being poor, they live far better than I and my fellow soldiers lived in the 50s, 60s, & 70s.
The maximum total re-enlistment bonus paid at that time, during one’s career was $3,000, my base pay was $971 a month in 1977. The housing in Lewis Village
on Fort Belvoir is a far cry from the housing that I and my family lived in on the same site from 1974 to 1977.
