There is still freedom of speech in Montclair

Recently, the Montclair Property Owner’s Association Board decided to turn over the overpopulation problem of the geese in Lake Montclair to the USDA in order to keep the “fouling” of the lake to a
minimum.
There were a few residents that were very disturbed by this and handed out flyers to save the geese. It seems that the president of the MPOA Board took it very personally. He chastised “those who are
spreading the “save the geese flyers.”
He said of them “your arguments and concerns carry less weight than the paper you wrote them on.”
He knows who the people are because they tried to speak their peace at a recent Homeowners’ Association meeting. No, they did not sign their name, but I guess you can figure out why.
This commentary on the front of our August Montclarion was uncalled for and should not have been addressed in the president’s message.
I’m not a geese lover by any means and am glad that the geese population is now down to a reasonable population, but I don’t think that should have been addressed by the president of the HOA in such
a public forum. I don’t believe that when we moved into this community we lost our freedom of speech.
