Time to condemn attacks on Fimian

Gerry Connolly’s silence is out of character. In recent weeks, his supporters have flooded local papers with attacks on Keith Fimian. This isn’t news. But many of these letters go beyond attacking Keith on the issues.

These letters insinuate that Keith’s legislative agenda is based on “papal policy.” I am happy to say that the Potomac News is not among the newspapers who have printed this hateful screed. Shame on
those Fairfax papers who have.

What’s more troubling is that my constituents have received robocalls from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee where a woman attacks the beliefs of a Catholic organization to which
Keith belongs.

As a devout Catholic, I am troubled to see this. As an American, and a constituent of the 11th District, I am incensed. It was almost half a century ago that the same bigoted attacks were made on
President John F. Kennedy.

Gerry should not let his supporters attack Keith for his religious beliefs. Issue differences between Keith and Gerry Connolly on taxes, transportation, energy policy and the rule of law are fair game, but
religious affiliation is not. Perhaps Gerry Connolly’s people feel they need to attack Keith’s faith because they know Gerry Connolly is on the wrong side of the 11th district on the issues that matter. I call
on Gerry Connolly to openly condemn attacks on Keith’s faith. The 11th district deserves better.

LOL Blue_doggete like i have said many times before i am a conservative independent. Would you like a copy of my voting record to prove it. Blue anybody who posts on Anti_bvbl and loves illegals has definitely got a screw loose. Willow personally i find your attacks on religion disturbing. I have not once commented on anyone’s religion on here. The only religious attacks from local political campaigns i have seen and heard of have been from the DCC towards Mr. Fimian. If you can prove otherwise please do. Connolly works as a consultant to defense contractor SAIC, this is well established fact. Yet he denounces the Iraq war, he really should put his money where his mouth is. He also does not enforce the laws in regards to illegal immigrants. One only needs to look at the many cesspool areas in Fairfax County to back that statement up. I am glad they are running scared in PWC. They will not be rescinding or changing the policy, accept it and you will be fine. Sorry willow i have no problems serving my country, did you? Other than that i find your religious intolerance despicable. This country was founded because of bigots like you. LOL Chris Cummings

Chris,
Yes, I did attack Mr. Fimian’s religion.
I’m agnostic. Remember? I’ll attack any religion that attempts to force it’s beliefs on others. Can you spell Taliban? Do you want a Vice & Virtue police force like that in Egypt? Do you want to force American women to wear tents? Can you prove the existence of that selfish, sadistic, entity that you call “God”? Until you can, I’ll live by my simple rule of “Do unto others ...“.
I won’t burden you with expensive edifices or blasphemous preachers.
A few simple words are all Mr. Fimian needs, words that John F. Kennedy had no difficulty saying; I had no problem with voting for him.
I have lived in Fairfax County for 35 years, my older daughter has lived in Prince William for 15 years. I see no greater crime rate than that in Prince William. Budget shortfall? Doesn’t the federal government have one of those? Personal & commercial debt in this country runs into the trillions of dollars. So who can’t stick to a budget?
My younger daughter was with SAIC for several years. SAIC has defense contracts. Thousands of American companies have defense contracts, does that make them evil? Would you rather give those contracts to Chinese or Russian companies; or would you rather not defend your country at all?

So what’s the problem? All three things you have mentioned are in better shape in PWC. LOL

Kgotthardt,  LOL CC never knows what he is talking about and he cannot back up what he says with facts.  He just rambles on and takes issue with anyone he thinks is a dreaded LIBERAL.

Facts, Chris, FActs.  Produce some.

But Chris…I don’t LIVE in Fairfax County. I live in Prince William County where management, fiscal and social policy are screwed up.

If I lived in Fairfax, I am quite sure I would be advocating for changes there.  But….I live here.  And I don’t like what this government is doing to OUR county.

You don’t have to feel the same way I do, of course.

Comparatively speaking Kgotthardt Fairfax County is drowning in a sea of red ink compared to PWC. If you want to talk mismanagement then you only need to look at the budget shortfall in Fairfax and compare it to PWC. That doesn’t even begin to address the higher crime rates in Fairfax then PWC. It does explain why there were higher home sales in PWC in the first half of 2008. LOL. First Willow attacks Mr. Fimian’s religion, then when he gives answers on those religious questions that Willow asks he attcks the answers and then attacks the Catholic religion again. If that isn’t the heights of ludicrous hypocrisy, then i might as well work as a consultant for SAIC an Iraq war company although i am against the Iraq War. Oh wait a minute its not against Gerry Connolly’s beliefs. LOL Chris Cummings

Ron,
So far, Keith Fimian hasn’t answered my e-mail.
However, he has told the Washington Post that he is for abortion only when the life of the mother is at risk. This, by default answers the question on forced childbirth.
He says that, ?good Catholic that he is?, he is not opposed to contraception. That may open the door to relief for rape victims.
But, how much are we to trust a man who would abandon the tenets of his religion for the sake of political office?

Thanks Willow703,

I look forward to seeing his position.

Ron,
I have to admit I don’t have any statements
from Mr. Fimian on abortion. I wondered why; then I told myself, “Look it up!“
I went to his campaign site. Abortion is not one of the issues listed there. I wonder why. So I sent him 4 questions. Do you favor or oppose a total ban on abortions? Do you consider all forms of contraception to be abortion? Would you force an unwanted pregnancy & childbirth on a victim of rape or incest? On what do you base your beliefs & do you believe all should be governed on the basis of your personal beliefs?
If I get the answers, I will share them. If I don’t, I will share that also. I’ll give him a week.

Willow when has Fimian said he was going to force his religion on anyone? Quotes and actual statements please. I have the actual flyers of the DNC attacking someones religion in this case Fimian’s. Possibly is not an answer and abortion is still murder. Lastly why is someone’s religion an issue here, Fimian has yet to say anything yet others have claimed he has said something. Actual quotes and comments from Fimian please. DNC political flyers and Connolly sound bites are not good examples of this. We will be waiting. What about Connolly and his known consultancy with SAIC a war profiteer? What about his inaction on illegal immigration in Fairfax County? What about the continual higher taxes? What about the increasing crime rate in Fairfax County and the decreasing rate in PWC. These are things that speak volumes. LOL Chris Cummings
