Time to condemn attacks on Fimian

Gerry Connolly’s silence is out of character. In recent weeks, his supporters have flooded local papers with attacks on Keith Fimian. This isn’t news. But many of these letters go beyond attacking Keith on the issues.

These letters insinuate that Keith’s legislative agenda is based on “papal policy.” I am happy to say that the Potomac News is not among the newspapers who have printed this hateful screed. Shame on
those Fairfax papers who have.

What’s more troubling is that my constituents have received robocalls from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee where a woman attacks the beliefs of a Catholic organization to which
Keith belongs.

As a devout Catholic, I am troubled to see this. As an American, and a constituent of the 11th District, I am incensed. It was almost half a century ago that the same bigoted attacks were made on
President John F. Kennedy.

Gerry should not let his supporters attack Keith for his religious beliefs. Issue differences between Keith and Gerry Connolly on taxes, transportation, energy policy and the rule of law are fair game, but
religious affiliation is not. Perhaps Gerry Connolly’s people feel they need to attack Keith’s faith because they know Gerry Connolly is on the wrong side of the 11th district on the issues that matter. I call
on Gerry Connolly to openly condemn attacks on Keith’s faith. The 11th district deserves better.

Did i forget to mention that Gerry Connolly is also a war profiteer with his consultancy with SAIC an Iraq war contractor. Will your members be voting for him as well? Hypocrites. LOL Chris Cummings

Kgotthardt how did Corey Stewart involve the Catholic Church in what? Now are you making accusations? Do you want me to bring the multiple religious hatemails sent by Connolly and the support groups. I looked up Legatus it does nothing as to what was portrayed in that heinous ad. If being a member of your church means spreading lies, false stories, innuendos, then i can see why you are fallen away Catholics. Do you believe in God or Jesus anymore? Or would you rather support criminal illegal alien invaders? Does your church have any strange practices? I would be willing to bet that your group sent out that flyer. Gerry Connolly supports illegals and higher taxes thats just fact from his attitudes and his record on the issue. LOL Chris Cummings

Ms. Kotthardt:

You brought up the Catholic church first. I was only responding to your comments.

‘do the right thing’

just to be factual, our church is the Bull Run Unitarian Universalist church, not the ‘unity’ church.  also Kathryn was not in attendance at our party and was not one of the organizers.

i rented the social hall with my own money and the event was in no way sponsored by BRUU.

we do have a number of current and lapsed Catholics so i suspect they do have a perspective on the Catholics.  i am not going to preach to you.  and i’m not an expert of the Catholic religion.

try to not include all members of a particular group when trying to make a point (which is what i think you were trying to do, tho it looked more like a personal attack to me).

Dear “do the right thing”:

I am a member of Bull Run Unitarian Universalist church and not a member of any political party.

I come from a traditional Catholic family, and while I am no longer Catholic, I hold the church in high regard for many reasons including its support of social justice programs.  I also work with Catholic advocacy groups because I agree with many of their philosophies such a commitment to eliminating poverty, hatred, and senseless war.

And yes, I attended Catholic school, have studied my catechism and my Bible.

Now that you have some background on me specifically, I would appreciate it if people would not drag the Catholic church or any other church into this debate as Corey Stewart has so recklessly done.

Ray Williams,

I’m rather amused that Cobra is now threatening to punch me in the mouth to avoid listening to me.  Someone really important once said “violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.“  That person must have known our friend Cobra.

I may have to hang up my “Captain Grammar” cape.  Here I was thinking that I was teaching the proper use of white space and punctuation to conservatives.  Then Cobra goes and writes another long-winded rambling post like this.  < sigh >

Signed,
Ron “Captain Grammar” Charest
P.S. : Didn’t want Pwanon to slam me again…

I find it quite interesting that members of the Bull Run Unity Church in Manassas, who held a political rally for Obama in their church, are now experts on the Catholic religion, and feel a need to preach to all of us.

I too received religiously biased hatemail from Connolly support groups. I am voting for Warner, but not for Connolly. As for President pick’em. LOL Chris Cummings

cobra, and since you toss in future election results ONE MORE TIME, then I’ll ask you ONE MORE TIME. What happened in the PAST election to Dave Core and Maureen Wood in your Manassas City Council election?

If you don’t remember or can’t recall, they got SPANKED. City residents voted overwhelmingly AGAINST your anti-illegal HSM crowd. I toss this out every few months and you never respond.
Take off your rose-colored glasses and look at the results and admit you’re wrong.  Three little words “I was wrong”. Your head won’t explode, I promise.

cobra, I’m not sure how I get thrown under the bus with Capt. Grammer as I said NOTHING about Catholics or illegal immigrants in my post. Nor did willow, whom I simply agreed with. I can’t say I agree with Catholics on too many issues. But as willow says, you bring religion into the campaign, it becomes a campaign issue.

And how am I losing work due to the decline of illegal immigrants? At the prices I charge for my work, there are not too many illegals that can afford my company’s services. Since my workforce is LEGAL, the exidous of illegal immigrants is actually REDUCING competition and INCREASING the work available to us. Less competition equals more money. I don’t have a Masters Degree to wave about, but I’ll compare paychecks any time you want. Just remember whose family qualified for the Incentive Check and whose family did not.
