Today is the Democratic Party primary for our 11th Congressional District.

Tom Davis is not running. I plan to vote for Leslie Byrne to fill his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Leslie will be a strong voice in the Congress to end Bush’s war in Iraq. She has opposed it from the beginning. She will work with Jim Webb and Barack Obama for a responsible end to the war.

Leslie’s record in Congress shows that she has been dedicated to health care reform. She will continue her work for affordable health care with Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. While in Congress, she
voted for the Family and Medical Leave Act, which allows a person to take time off for a family or personal emergency without losing his or her job. When elected, Leslie will work to extend that act to
include paid leave for a family or personal emergency.

Today, I will be casting my vote for Leslie Byrne in the Democratic primary in the 11th congressional District. I hope you will join me.

I don’t know much about Byrne’s candidacy, but based on your letter, a vote for Byrne sounds like a vote for more taxes, more government waste and abuse and more government inefficiency.  I think the last thing tax-weary citizens need is an expanded Nanny state.

Thanks, but no thanks.
