Too far down the socialist path

When the Constitution of the United States was ratified, a colleague asked Benjamin Franklin, “What have we wrought?”

Benjamin Franklin replied, “A Republic, if they can keep it.” Our founding fathers would hardly recognize what has been happening in this country (for decades) as being anything like what they intended.

The fundamental difference between those brilliant men and what we have today is that they were dedicated toward building a great nation. These men were well read, very intelligent and knew well enough what had not worked in ancient Greece, the Roman Empire and Europe.

They pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to leave us the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and Bill of Rights.

Most of them paid with their lives and fortunes.

Unfortunately, we now have a government of greedy, egocentric, self-serving politicians (both parties) who desperately seek to get elected to a position of power and spend enormous amounts of money to do so.

Further, through pork barrel spending, they use taxpayer money to stay in power and it’s destroying this great country.

An informed electorate is the best way to reclaim the America envisioned by our Founding Fathers; however, the mainstream media is not doing their job as reporters or journalists. Instead of accurately informing their readers/listeners, they tend more toward misleading or they fail to report some important facts. They are undeniably biased, and with such busy schedules, voters don’t have time to really
see what is happening to this country.

I’m afraid that by the time American people realize how far we’ve gone down the road toward a socialist government, it may be too late to turn it around. Even a basic knowledge of history tells us that socialism/communism has never worked. It won’t work now and will never work, but politicians are promising more things to more people and the money IS NOT there to pay for all these programs.
