The Manassas City school system has experienced sudden and tragic losses over the past month.
During this time, Manassas employees, students and residents have come together to show support for family, friends and teachers of the students whom we have lost.
On Nov. 4, during a school-wide “Walk of Remembrance,” the Manassas City School division family joined together. Hundreds of students, teachers, family members and others walked from the Osbourn
High School football field, each with a single flower to show support.
The walk ended back at the football field where each person laid their flower on the 50-yard line. The crowd, holding hands, stretched from one field goal to the other. After an emotional moment of
silence, the SCA led a “We are Osbourn” cheer that echoed throughout the stadium.
Mike Dufrene, an employee who wears many hats at OHS and the person responsible for orchestrating this wonderful event, should be praised for his efforts in strengthening a bond within the school
system and the Manassas City community.
