Unfair taxation in Prince William County

Why is it that I’m paying more than one third in real estate tax on a home that my dad built and paid for debt free (including the land) at about $9,800 back in 1957? Keep in mind there has been no added
structure to the home.
Why am I paying the same amount of real estate tax this year of 2008, while the value of my home and land has dropped about $86,000 since 2006?
Why do my wife and I have to pay the same for schools, buses and teachers’ salaries, when by choice, we have no children and are unable to get the same tax relief since we don’t have enough for
itemized deductions on our annual income tax form?
What happened to census taking in our community (one that is required to see if each home has children in school)?
Why is it that the majority of job layoffs, due to our weak economy and soaring prices, have hit the retail and private sector departments instead of government departments or branches with tax funded
contracts? Is not that clerk who checks out those who need milk and bread, and those who dispense medicine or a technician who repairs a heating unit in the cold of winter, not as essential as a teacher
or police?
Do any retail clerks or private sector employees get “liberal leave,” annual “perfect attendance bonus checks,” guaranteed pay for standby or on-call employees or constant pay raises as those in
government jobs?
This shows the big difference in a tax dollar verse a competitive dollar. In our Constitution, doesn’t it say we all are created equal?
Supervisors of our county government, please give me justifiable answers to these deserving and worthy questions.

So, what is the market value of that house?
I bought a house for $17,000 in 1970, sold it for $54,000 in 1978. My wife & children lived in it for a year. We paid taxes for 9 years - & we were out of state for 8 of those years - taxes paid to educate all children, not just ours. That is what public education is for.
Sounds like the writer made his bed, but doesn’t want to lie in it.
Do any private sector “employees” get bonuses & other things they don’t deserve? Absolutely! Do any public sector “employees” get “golden parachutes” after running their town, city, state, etc., into the ground?
You might want to ask Phil “mental recession” Gramm how much he & other former Senators & Representatives get.
