Although Prince William County has finally approved the base rate percentage of the upcoming real estate tax, most taxpayers are not aware or conscious about the four other segments of fees (another form of taxes) that are attached to the annual real estate tax.

They consist of the fire and rescue levy rate, gypsy moth levy rate, annual stormwater fee and annual solid waste fee. Shouldn’t the real estate tax alone be sufficient? Watch for an increase!

These are “extra” areas where the county can fall back on to subsidize additional revenue. Taxpayers beware! After that, then the dreaded car tax and county decals!
