Vocal minority, again, plays the race card

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors made the right decision several months ago, when they unanimously passed “The Rule of Law” resolution. They also chose correctly when they voted unanimously to fund its implementation.
Now, a small, but vocal minority, once again playing the race card, is attempting to undo what has been done. I strongly urge the board to continue on their course and not allow themselves to fall prey to those who do not have our county’s best interest in mind.
In a little more than a month, we have begun to visibly see the impact of this resolution. There has already been a substantial reduction in ESOL costs in our schools, dramatic improvements with residential overcrowding throughout the county and reduced crowds in the ER.
The bottom line is, it is working. We have come too far to be intimidated now. Stay the course.

$8 millon over budget for 2009 Ray? What has this got to do with the Illegal Resolution, since everyone knows that the economy has worsened even since the Resolution took effect? Any real facts and figures Ray in regards to the actual budget for 2009? Here it is after all only 2008. Wow you must be an economic genius. If your neighbors were legal Phdee why did they leae since the Resolution doesn’ pertain to them. 12 million? The problem is larger than that Phdee. Try 20 million plus. Ray the only rational decision is local enforcement since the Federal Government wasn’t doing it, it appears to be working elsewhere in the jurisdictions that have passed similar rules to the PWC Resolution. Ray as has been noted in the recent past by lots of people hundreds of times, amnesty doesn’t work and only encourages more illegal immigration i.e 1986 Amnesty bill, only 50% applied for amnesty and then illegal immigration jumped after that and then limits were raised each year by Clinton only exacerbating the problem. We stand at 1 million a year allowed legally now, knowing that at least 2-3 million a year are also coming in illegally as well. Chris Cummings

See how easy all this is. We got phdee agreeing with barnun the law is the law and a number agreeing to explore options.
My funding idea, again, is to document those that are illegal, give them a reasonable time to apply for legal status or prepare to go home. And please note when they apply for a Green Card, they pay about a $5,000 penalty for crossing the border illegally. Issue a temporary Illegal Resident Document and charge them an Illegal Income Tax equal to our S.S. Tax while they’re working. Let them pay the cost of enforcement. They don’t sign up? Then you’ve got an illegal illegal and funding for ICE to haul them home.
But you want a sales tax? I’m ok with that too. We just need to understand funding has to be in place for progress to be made.

funding is easy. just add 1 cent to the sales tax in the county and let everyone know it is a support the law tax. Or should we choose to ignore some more laws to save more money ? We have to ticket speeders because they pay, but we could quit trying to catch theives, vandals, murderers adn rapists.
that would save the county some coin. Or like our good freind phdee states, we could enforce the law ....

Jefferson said, Wazhington said, Adams said, Joe blow said, etc etc. Who cares. What was said is irrelevant. All that matters is what’s in the law, not what was said while in a bar.

phdee said - “I am realistic to know that it just isn’t practical or feasible to send 12 million immigrants back”.
And there, my friend, is where victory lies. Don’t fight the fight, let the Resolution underfund its way out the door and we return to status quo. When they are ready for change, cooler heads will prevail suddenly rational proposals will look good!

Do the right thing, you’re an all too predictable follower who doesn’t understand the concept of having an original thought. But go ahead, keep on parroting the same song so you don’t have to actually engage in debate. I’m sure that’ll get you far.

Ray, I agree that foreclosures are an economic issues, not immigration - if I ever stated or insinuated that, I apologize. And theree are many, mny reasons out there for them “economic” problems in housing. I do think, the PWC resolution has scared off both legal and illegal immigrants, and that there likely are some local foreclosures due to being scared off. i think the Salvodoran living next to me was in that category - and they were very nice, kept the place up, spoke, did yardwork, etc - as nice a neighbor as one would want. And were far far better than the Americans previously living there.—I believe the US govt is responsible for immigration, and I am realistic to know that it just isn’t practical or feasible to send 12 million immigrants back.

do right, I’m happy to sit back and let the PWC Resolution take its natural course. Already $8 million over budget for 2009, PWC doesn’t have a lot of options other than to raise your taxes or cut programs. Guess what program will be cut first? Instead of trying to be pro-active and discuss possible solutions, we’ll just watch you guys beat your own drums and wait for your bewildered looks in 6 to 9 months when nothing is different. When the economy comes back the immigrants will come back and April 2009 you’ll still be writing to the newspapers wondering when it is going to get better. Then you’ll realize Corey Stewart is a Supervisor, not a Savior. If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Ain’t life a hoot?

Equality,
It has been fun playing with you, and the other illegal immigrant apologists! Keep commenting because it further validates the Rule of Law Resolution.
