Vocal minority, again, plays the race card

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors made the right decision several months ago, when they unanimously passed “The Rule of Law” resolution. They also chose correctly when they voted unanimously to fund its implementation.

Now, a small, but vocal minority, once again playing the race card, is attempting to undo what has been done. I strongly urge the board to continue on their course and not allow themselves to fall prey to those who do not have our county’s best interest in mind.

In a little more than a month, we have begun to visibly see the impact of this resolution. There has already been a substantial reduction in ESOL costs in our schools, dramatic improvements with residential overcrowding throughout the county and reduced crowds in the ER.

The bottom line is, it is working. We have come too far to be intimidated now. Stay the course.

cobra, you must feel better because you’re easy to please. Have people quit walking on your lawn? Has your parking situation improved? Do your neighbors speak English now? Have your real estate taxes come down? With just a hundred or so people handed off to ICE, has your quality of life really improved? Or is this just a short burst of “feel-good” that will go away when reality sets in and you realize nothing has really changed. If you want to put all your eggs in the PWC basket, that’s ok with me. Just don’t complain later when dandelion seeds are still blowing all over your yard. You’re so bitter you can’t see the forest for the trees. I’m looking for ways to help you and you keep bashing me. Remember, I’m not the one unhappy with my neighbors and the way my neighborhood has changed over the past few years.

And cobra, let me share this juciy tidbit with you. You would be AMAZED how many 40-somethings and 50-somethings are still getting financial support from their parents. Many times I collect a deposit check or final payment check from the parent - you know, just to help the ‘kids’ out. How they’re going to make it later in life I’ve not got a clue. And, I still got your back on the rude social behavior issues. That is the first area of immigration I would want to attack.

cobra, my OPINION is based on the large number of homeowners I talk to that have put projects on hold or are crying in their beer their home value came down and their piggy bank dried up. They don’t come out and say that, but you listen long enough and the truth comes out. They brag about how often they refinance and now have a life style they can’t afford to maintain. Did I make money during the boom? Yes indeed. Do I worry my house value has dropped $250k in the last two years? Not a bit. Did I refinance for my BMW or pool? Nope, paid cash. Will I continue to make money in this down economy? Yup, scheduling work into July already. Those caught up in the foreclosure market simply bought over their heads. Even those that unfortunately lost jobs should of had a reserve before they took a loan. Of course this does not apply to everyone, but the homes you see on the market appear to be construction-worker level or BMW level homes. Some had bad luck, some got greedy, some were stupid. The point was to barnum and phdee is that foreclosures are not an immigration issue but an economic issue.

Mr. Williams,
I thought you would be happy for those that refinanced and built swimming pools in their back yards. You tell me over and over again that you pay your Mexican worker $25.00 an hour due to the fact that your business caters to the high end market. Obviously you should have benefited from that market. You champion the facts cause on this site each day. Got any hard facts to back up your comments? But let me play nice today as to not upset Phdee and the let them all stay crowd. I want all illegal immigrants deported to include Asians, Irish, Hispanics, Russians & Italians. Man I feel better already.

Foreclosures are due to the high number of BMWs, sunrooms, swimming pools, vacation homes and other toys financed by My Piggy Bank. Also, inexperianced investors that purchased at the end of the bubble looking for the quick flip or rental market. The loss of construction jobs is directly related to the high rate of foreclosures by those employed in the construction field. This holds true for the rental market that served the construction workers. Mostly, people ‘stealing’ money from their homes to buy toys.

Phdee, you are seriously misguided. foreclosures and the housing bust have gone on all over the nation. PWC has been one of the fastest growing counties for many years. This is based on new housing. the new housing has been built during an inflated market, therefore the negative interest loans. More of these loans were done in PWC than fairfax because so many more new houses built. The population of illegals has been very high due to the construction jobs available. Illegals dont generally go after the CEO jobs. Now people are buying lowgrade housing using negative interest loans so they can rent to the illegals. Gas prices skyrocketed, the economy slowed, the builders flooded the market, housing values went to the toilet, and the negative interest loans matured and ballooned causing a foreclosure flood. It has Nothing to do with the resolution. It is against federal law for illegals to hold a mortgage, therefore they really play no part in the foreclosure problem. I’m happy that you are compassionate about the illegals on a humanitarian level, but they are illegal and the resolution only recognizes that fact, it does not create that fact. The battle you want to fight is at the federal level.

To all of the illegal immigrant apologists, keep talking you are your own worst enemy.

Have a wonderful life!

There would never again be the mention of ‘racism’ if every writer would focus on the actions of the one person they are talking about and NEVER attempt to parlay the characteristics of that person to others that happen to look, live, sound or associate with them. If your neighbor doesn’t mow his lawn, don’t say “they” don’t mow their lawns. If you have many neighbors that don’t mow their lawns, then state you have many neighbors that don’t mow their lawns and leave all the other adjectives out of the story. Together we can end the need for using this word.

Ouch, don’t know how that happened.  Here it is again:

Do the right thing, another personal attack?  (Your Ginkgo biloba comment on another post.) You’re such a hypocrite.  What’s the matter, can’t think of a response?  Don’t you deride PHDee for making similar personal attacks?

Well in case you forgot, here’s a run down of the issue:

You say the citizens of PWC overwhelming support the resolution, but the evidence doesn’t support that.  Chairman Stewart (the face of the resolution) only carried 56% of a vote that represented only 30% of the electorate (the entire county, in case you need help with that definition).

And while you’re at it, why don’t you answer Ray’s questions of how this resolution as it’s written is even sustainable (correct me if I got this wrong, Ray).

No doubt you won’t answer either, though, because you’e not up to the task.  You’re responses will probably go something like this:

“Oh ya, well [insert irrelevant comment here].”

“And Rule of Law!  Rule of Law!  RULE OF LAW!” [Again missing the point of the two comments above.]

“Also, your comments are moronic.” [Sticks and stones . . . .]

“So I don’t have to answer them.” [Not realizing, of course, that if the questions are really that moronic then only a bigger moron would be unable to answer them.]

Once and again, keep up the good work.

Barnum, you’re evading the question of how did PWC get so many bad loans/ A foreclosure occurs when someone doesn’t pay the mortgage.  Ain’t got anything to do with houses built. Comparing populations, Fairfax must have a lot of overcrowding (or was it houses built) since the population is so much larger.  And Manassas?  Manaqssas hasn’t had a housing building boom. You know the real answer, don’t you?  It’s the resolution and racism.  PWC and Manassas have been decimated byn Stewart, the BOCS, HSM, Letiecq, and the anti crowd.  Admit it.  Everyone knows it, including you.
