As the late House Speaker Thomas “Tip” O’Neill once said, “All politics is local.” In repeating the right-wing radio entertainers’ talking points, writer Chris Royse ignores Rep. O’Neill’s important point.
While we are in the midst of a world financial crisis and Rome is burning, the GOP has decided to fiddle through the disaster by spewing gutter politics as usual rather than to provide any answers, plans
or vision.
In thinking about this complete lack of insight, it is important that even on the local level, the voters need to know that the future is hopeful if we elect leaders who are not engrossed in hate and negative
tactics but who are instead focused on leading and assisting their community to sustain itself during this challenging time in our history.
Manassas Park is lucky to have two Democratic candidates on their election slate: Suhas Naddoni and Peter Farrell. Understand that in the city just like in all local government, strength at the local level
will be needed to handle difficulties which can be anticipated because of eight years of Republican rule from top to bottom resulting in global economic catastrophe.
Naddoni and Farrell have a desire to not only uphold the financial stability of Manassas Park, they also want to lead the city to a vision which includes attracting more businesses to the city in an effort to
expand the tax base and reduce the tax burden of the individual taxpayer.
With this in mind, the role of vision comes full circle and does not include the effluence of toxic rhetoric. Votes for Naddoni and Farrell are votes for local hope and a contribution to our national vitality.

Why is a Manassas resident writing letters to the editor about whom to vote for in a Manassas Park election?
