Way to think outside the box Gary Jacobsen

Finally Gary Jacobsen has a great idea — a sure way to reduce crime.

Just encourage undesirables who bring children into the world destined to become criminals to get abortions! Maybe we can give them a little extra public assistance for their community-minded sacrifice.

We could probably do even better than that. We could require women to get a permit to have a baby. Of course, a background check would be required to ensure that the parent(s) didn’t exhibit any of the characteristics that might lead to a child who could grow up to be a criminal or some other burden on society.

No permit — automatic abortion. What an original idea! Well, maybe not so original. I recall that someone else had a similar solution to get rid of undesirables over 70 years ago. It worked quite well, for a while anyway.

I believe his name was Adolf Hitler. While we’re at it, we might as well dust off “A Modest Proposal” by Jonathan Swift and give it a try. There really are solutions to these problems in society.  We just need to think outside the box.

Eugenics, you mean the same eugenics practiced by the ole’ South, as in the Southern Democrats who dominated politics during the time of eugenics and now foist the fault of eugenics on Conservatives and Republicans. Take a look in the mirror and you will see Geraldine Ferraro or Hillary Clinton and the politics of hate.

Can we not encourage these illegal individuals to go home and fix the problems back home? Chris Cummings

Recall that eugenics was one used in good old Virginia, and that the Nazis adopted it.—You completely missed Jacobson’s point.  In fact he just citedd a study (doesn’t mean he approved it) for his opinion column.  You weren’t a eugenics victim, were you?

Mr Jacobsen appears to be an illegal immigrant apologist, automatically mking his comments biased towards the illegal community and biased towards biased statistics of course. No point in listening to him anymore. Chris Cummings

I do not think that was the point Mr. Jacobsen intended… Nevertheless, yours was an amusing letter.
