Guess who are number two and three recipients of money from this “evil Big Oil” company:
2 — Barack Obama $32,550
3 — Hillary Clinton $22,621
The last two Democrat candidates who were left standing took money from “evil Big Oil.” Obama, who has said he will nail “Big Oil” to the wall, actually took their money. Wait, didn’t Obama just say that
he would not take money from lobbyists and PACs that do business with the federal government?

Basically another way around the rules Ron in regards to donations. Both parties change the rules and then they find the loopholes. Duped again. LOL. Chris Cummings

Sorry Ray you are not the authority on “Immigration Law” The Federal Government is and to act like your position is the only one, is just setting yourself up for the big fall. Incidentally will you be enjoying the taxes that will continually go up to pay for these non tax paying illegal individuals, social services that legal immigrants have a hard time getting because illegals have cut in line once again, emergency room overloaded with illegals who don’t want to pay forcing hospitals to close and doctors to leave for other states. This is a national disgrace and a national nightmare. To vote for McCain and Obama is a vote for higher taxes, higher oil prices, amnesty for illegals. It’s disturbing. Chris Cummings

Jva, the US does have a lot of oil, oil shale and we are the middle east for coal. I think the reason our country is so lax against mexico and our border issue is because of how much oil we import from them, so that really does equate to a security issue. I do think the US could advance trememdously on energy issues though. We’ve had much of the technology forever. One thing I will say for Carter was his interest and push for Non petroleum energy. Bush did pass an energy bill that gives all of us tax credits for personally investing in energy savings ie, windows, doors, insulation, solar panels, pellet and corn stoves etc. but this requires more than an offer from the feds, it needs a push. $4 bucks a gallon is starting to open some eyes though. Honda just rolled their first hydrogen car off the assmebly line to ship to california. I do beleive we’ll see many changes over the next 5-10 years IF gas doesn’t go back to 2 bucks a gallon, allowing everyone to think that whole energy fad is over.

I just received a response from Sen Obama’s correspondence team. I will repost it:
“Thank you for contacting us with questions about donations to Senator Obama’s campaign.
Senator Obama does not accept contributions from federal lobbyists, corporations or PACs. All donors are required to list their employer and occupation, and that data is made public under federal law. Some private organizations use this data to track the contributions of people employed in an industry (or a profession or corporation), and then say that the “industry” has contributed. In fact, individuals employed in that particular industry have donated.
Also note that people can donate in their own name only and may only use personal funds. It is against federal law for a company to give money to its employees in order for it to be donated to a federal campaign.
Thank you again for contacting us.
Sincerely,
Obama for America”
So this means that people who work for Exxon/Mobil are listing their occupation/place of employment, and it is getting lumped together in a query search. So it’s not a case of “Big Oil” giving money to Sen Obama, it’s a case of a lot of people who work for Exxon/Mobile donating out of their paycheck.

Sorry JVA an illegal alien is also an illegal invader, at least you don’t support illegal immigration i will give you kudos for that. Corey Stewart has been polite about the garbage that has been thrown his way and HSM’s way as well. Sorry Ron if the tag traitor fits wear it. Who was No. 1 on the list? Ron you are only kidding yourself when you attack Independent voters. For your information i voted for Doug Denneny in the recent primary of which you probably didn’t vote in or voted for Connolly the illegal immigrant coddler or the whacko baby killer Byrne who couldn’t buy an election if her life depended on it. JVA the Federal Government will never seriously address the problem of Big Oil, for big oil lines all the politicians pockets. For the record Ron, you are still a traitor. Sorry Ron their are snakes in both camps thats why you will never see me voting for just one side. Maybe the snakes should compromise and have a split ticket. Looks like this will be another 2000 for me and no vote for the top two candidates. I guess you consider Independents snakes as well Ron or are you just stuck in your two party nightmare. LOL LOL Chris Cummings

I’ve said many times in my posts to converse with those that can carry on a discussion and total ignore those that can’t. If the best CC can do is call me a traitor, well that reflects back on his level of intellect. Funny thing is we are trying to find solutions to the illegal immigration problem, and Chris compounds the lack of a workable solution with his stuck-up-to-his-knees-in-concrete position. And phdee, you’re arguments would be helped by being a little more civil also.

What do you think the solution is, barnun? Is there one?
Good post btw. <—me being civil.
Our oil dependancy seems like a huge national security issue to me. It seems reasonable to expect the federal government to address it.

See jVA,
I actually agreed with Cummings (and Barnun) earlier in this thread that calling people “white trash,“ as Phdee recently did, was inappropriate.
And here Cummings goes and once again calls me a traitor, anyway.
In another thread, in response to a challenge, I fully agreed that I was usually un-civil to Republicans / Conservatives and explained why I had no problems with that.
Cris Cummings just showed again why I think it’s normally a waste of time to ever be civil to Conservatives / Republicans. I’d compare them to snakes in the grass, hiding and waiting to bite when least expected, except that I’d be insulting the snakes.

jva, I still think Big Oil owns Big Parts of our federal government. I think Big Oil has held the US back for decades, trying to manipulate our country to depend on them. There was a guy who patented a solar heating system in the late 1890’s. He was gaining success and had installed over 1500 units by 1905 ish. The Gas company put him out of business. Many major US cities used to have trolly cars, DC included. They were bought up by the bus companies and closed down, ripping the tracks up to make sure they never went back into business. The Gas companies tried hard to stop edison but they failed on that one. The Auto industry killed Tucker and the intelligent advancements of automobiles. Big Auto and Big Oil are like a married couple. BMW sold a car in the US in the 50’s that got over 50 mpg. Big Oil and Big auto is not a democrat or republican sided issue.

My guess is that Big Oil gives the most money to whatever candidate they expect is going to win this fall.
I hope they’re right!
