Why can’t we all just get along on the roads

For the life of me I can’t comprehend why it is so hard for some people to allow others to merge into traffic.

Why is it that some people see that traffic is backed up for almost a mile going North on Interstate 95 in morning, yet they think it is all right to ride the far right lane and squeeze in at the last minute?

No wonder most mild mannered drivers are at a flash point for road rage! Tolerance is on a moving scale in my humble opinion; traffic seems to be on the lower end of my tolerance threshold.

Could you possible stack any more ladders on that windowless construction van?  Thank you for pulling out in front of me at the last possible minute not to mention the fact that there was absolutely no
one behind me. I really appreciate you driving 10 mph under the speed limit, weaving in and out of your lane because you’re on the cell phone.

Understanding we all have our priorities, nevertheless driving courtesy should not be jettisoned, because of poor planning.

In my military days we moved on what is called an operations order (OPORD) — http://www.armystudyguide.com/content/army_board_study_guide_topics/training_the_force/the-operation-order-
opord.shtml. Basically you plan your movements and take in to account possible variables. This concept can be applied to all things natural. Could we agree that if people planned better, we may be able
to ease traffic by a few percentage points? I should not have to fear for my life because Mr. I overslept for the third time this week is running late.

I collected two speeding tickets because I failed to follow my own principles, which Prince William County relieved me of a hefty sum plus a night on the couch to appease my wife, and to add insult to injury, my insurance took a bump plus points. I have learned my lesson and I have reverted back to planning ahead.

Without sounding preachy, school starts next month. As a community, can we attempt to alleviate our traffic intolerance by planning ahead?

Not arguing with your logic nor do I disagree, but just keep in mind the law does want people to merge more at the end of the lane rather that the beginning. I simply try to accommodate both styles of drivers by allowing one in the beginning and one in at the end. The extra 5 seconds I lost is no big deal.
