I must defend my presidential candidate, Mr. John McCain, from the scurrilous attacks against his good character. If you examine Mr. McCain’s long record in the Senate, you will see that he often
worked both sides of the aisle, a true bipartisan, even voting against his own party at times for the good of the bill that was being presented.
Contrast this with a young man from Harvard who used his law degree in Chicago to oust not only the incumbent through technicalities, but the other candidates as well to obtain his position, and then
under the guise of providing homes for low income families, helped his cronies get the money instead. I’m not making this up — look it up — homes were never built but the money is gone. Personally, I
do not see a record one can be proud of here.
His “stay” in the Senate has thus far been unremarkable, except for a bill he voted against in 2001 and again in 2003 that protected the lives of premature infants. I do not see a record one can be proud
of. Hillary Clinton had it right when she stated that both she and Senator McCain have the experience to lead. Barack Obama has a speech he made in 2004.

I love this quote. John McCain on MEET THE PRESS just three years ago:
“The fact is that I have agreed with President Bush far more than I have disagreed. And on the transcendent issues, the most important issues of our day, I’ve been totally in agreement and support of President Bush.“

pwanon: there isn’t anything in the pockets from 8 years of Bush. And there aren’t any good times: home foreclosures, increase in bankruptcies, banks failing, home loans souring, the economy, job losses, gs prices, rising prices, health care costs, etc etc. Where did youm ever get the idea of good times? From a McCaain TV commercial? Do you make 5 million a year (middle class). Seek mental health care please.

Do The Right Thing,
Thank you for your service. No, I was not born yet when you were in Europe. My late dad was island hopping with the Army in the Pacific Theater, then arrived with the first wave of troops in Japan after VJ Day, and was with the first group of soldiers into Hiroshima.
Since we’ve established we both have military service, and both have put our bodies on the line to defend our country, perhaps you can stop with the personal insults? People like Cobra have an excuse for insulting veterans (i.e.: We did something he wasn’t willing to do). Veterans should not be mocking the service or dedication of their brothers and sisters.
The definition of “Terrorism,“ from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary:
“The systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion.“
The definition of “Terror”:
“1: a state of intense fear
2 a: one that inspires fear : scourge b: a frightening aspect <the terrors of invasion> c: a cause of anxiety : worry d: an appalling person or thing; especially : brat
3: reign of terror
4: violent or destructive acts (as bombing) committed by groups in order to intimidate a population or government into granting their demands <insurrection and revolutionary terror> “
So, what is the actual difference between carrying a bomb into a group of non-combatants strapped to one’s body, vs. dropping a bomb into a group of non-combatants from an aircraft at 20,000 feet?
Other than the delivery system.

“A medic in WWII in the European Theatre. “
Then you have more than earned the right to your opinion, and I stand corrected.

RonCharest: You said,
Please describe the difference between a person killing people as a suicide bomber, and a pilot of a warplane killing people by dropping bombs from 20,000 feet? Inquiring minds want to know.
Unbelievable that you RONCHAREST would be comparing our fine men and women of the military with SUICIDE BOMBERS! How much Kool-AID have you been drinking?

A medic in WWII in the European Theatre.
Saving the lives of our soldiers and victims of the Holocoust. You probably were not even born yet!

What else could be the reason McCain is for torture of POW’s. He was a POW for 5 years he says abd claims to have been - I have come to the conclusion that he likes and enjoys torture. Was this the reason his (bush) campaign claimed McCain was mentally ill? Is McCain showing the early signs of Alzheimers when he can’t remember how many houses he has? He’s 72 - memtal abilities may be fading. Sad case.

What we need is an online Quarter Jar. You post something slagging the other guy and you have to drop a quarter in the jar. You focus on the attributes of your guy and you’re home free. Just a thought.

cobra, maybe when football season begins there will be something else to debate - although I am not a football fan at all. As you state, once the dust settles, it is important we rally behind the new guy and hope he indeed plans to reach across the aisle and once again unite this country - as we were Sept 12th-25th 2001. Remember how well we all got along those first few weeks? Then I saw a guy flip the bird driving to work and said “well, that’s over”!
America’s greatest strength is her ability to enact orderly change through elections. We should be proud of this process.

A Description of Senator McCain from one of my favorite writers:
“You’re the Republican candidate for president and you want to fix the country’s problems even though you don’t know much about the economy, you don’t know how to use the internet, you don’t know how many houses you own or what kind of car you drive, you admit you don’t think clearly when you’re tired, you make frequent gaffes on foreign policy, you think offshore drilling is a short-term solution to high gas prices, you support torture and keeping the Guantanamo prison open, you make rash decisions and statements from which you have to quickly backtrack, you have an explosive temper on a hair trigger, your idea of health care reform is ‘wear more sunscreen,‘ you’re for stem cell research except when it’s done on stem cells because you consider them all American citizens, and you voted to support the policies of the worst president ever 100 percent of the time this year?“
“Trust me, my friends. I was a POW.“
