Mr. Pineda continues to rant about a lot of issues and topics most of which are not related to today’s illegal alien situation.
His previous letters about the Alamo, Compromise of 1850, etc., were a nice walk through the writer’s eyes for history, as is most writers of history, but not relative. He continues to state that illegals are better workers than native-born Americans, naturalized Americans and legal immigrants. If illegals are such exceptional workers, why don’t their respective home countries recognize those skills and work dedication and make every effort to keep them home and build their middle class and infrastructure?
Or is it that the countries would rather have the money they send home?
It is absurd to believe, and make a statement, that those against illegal aliens blame children of immigrants (notice he did not use illegal here) for America’s problems.
Since I am a first-generation American, I guess I was blamed for America’s problems as I was growing up.
His assertion that assimilation will never be achieved without some kind of amnesty is also off the mark.
Assimilation applies to all legal immigrants who came to this country to start a new life and very possibly become citizens.
They, by following the legal process, demonstrate a respect for the laws of their new country, which is a very good assimilation start-point. Assimilation has nothing to do with the wholesale acceptance of illegals.
However, the most telling aspect of Mr. Pineda’s mindset is his comments regarding the police department. His comments that it should not be difficult for the police to identify an illegal, that they continue to harass illegals and that they invade homes without proper warrants, demand factual proof.
These statements are extremely inflammatory and do nothing but cause what Mr. Pineda and others state is a problem — inflammatory and unfounded rhetoric.

phdee, I wonder if all those opposed to sending money out of the USA are buying gasoline made from foreign oil or Japanese cars and electronics. It doesn’t really matter in which form the currency is in, the transfer of wealth is all the same.

Once again we hear the complaint that illegals se3nd money back home to families. What exactly is wrong with that? People all over the world ddo that; here in the US the father goes, somewhere and sends money back home. I did when I forst left home—- oh what a sin, a traitor!!! Sending money back home for family survival shows family ties and values m- not the US method of deadbeat dads, divorces, illegitimate kids, welfare, etc. Moreover, of whose concern is it anyway what a person does with the noney he earned? Why, it is the busy-body fascists in the anti immigration crowd - those who claim to be so lawful, wholesome, and pure. These kooks are far removed from world behavior.

PWCMom, I think if you read MY posts you will see I offer idea after idea on practical ways to make progress on the illegal immigration issue. I have no problems with immigrants, documented or not BUT realise as a resident of PWC that there are many problems associated with having undocumented residents living here. Do the Pro Resolutionists say thank you for coming up with innovative ideas? Nope, they only toss out more myths and stereotypes and revert to the hard-line stance that “all illegals must be sent home”. Well, since we all know 12 million plus aren’t getting first class air fair back across the border, commonsense says we should have a Plan B in our pocket. The problem of illegal immigration is not ONE issue, but many, many areas that could/should be addressed independently to lessen their impact on us.

That’s the problem! All these allegations (on both sides, mind you, but it seems like the pro-illegal crowd relies more on innuendos and allegations) do nothing to support anything! Chief Deane testified that the people detained since the beginning of the resolution would have been jailed anyway, so where is the malice here? WHEN has an officer harassed an illegal OVER THEIR STATUS (and NOT because they are doing something wrong)? WHEN has an officer invaded homes? I too, want factual proof.
Mr. Pineda, its simple. Put up or shut up with the allegations!
