Poor Miss Helen Sorto. I am sorry you are so uneducated about this city and its history.
How dare you play both sides of the fence with this “if an American person tried to make a statement I don’t think there would be a fuss.”
Really? Isn’t that the biggest complaint of every Hispanic that they are “American?” And you have the nerve to say “stop wasting my tax dollars on silly things and start doing something positive with it.”
Who’s tax dollars are being wasted when you have an illegal Hispanic shoot and kill another illegal Hispanic in Georgetown South and have our city police officers having to spend hours investigating it?
Get educated before you again speak your “opinion” about my town.

The 8 or so guys recently arrested on sex-related crimes in PWC were all white, except one (black guy), and if you read the blotter on a daily basis and check the local news, you’ll see that whites and blacks commit the majority of crimes in the region. I couldn’t care less about the sign, ignore it if you don’y like it—I hate seeing campaign posters and billboards all over th place during election cycles, but it doesn’t get me all bent out shape. If the wall advocated some right-wing cause, a lot of you Jim Crow, good ol’ boy types would love it! Get over it! The more you make of it the longer it will be there. If some of really hate the wall, then buy some cans of spray paint…

Again, Ray, we can agree on something for a change. I’ve never been a proponent of a one-sided application of the law, and I don’t believe I’ve seen that applied in my county. In fact, the young boys you refer to have all been charged and will pay the price. The result may not have been prison time, but I think the punishment should fit the crime and in this case I think the judge got it right.

Yea MikeG, sometimes I get in a hurry and don’t put a lot of effort into what I write and the sloppiness shows. What I meant to say was all criminals cost taxpayers money, but the crime rate in GTS has come down in recent years, mainly due to homeowners moving in and renters moving out. The Osbourn High School boys tossing trash on the Parkway cost the taxpayers money also but I didn’t see Mr. Bond write a letter about that. Williams, for one who seems to pride himself for always being so precise and documented and unassailable, you have certainly slouched this time. You have shown that you can spin and twist words with the best of them, a skill not limited to liberals or conservatives but which is often the death knell of reasonable discussion. Your use of the word “fact” in your post has a hollow ring to it.

Wow ... so removing the sign will drive out illegals and stop all crime. Powerful stuff. Of course, Mr. Bond could use an education on the history of Manassas when Georgetown South was the crime capital of the city - so much a police substation was placed there. This changed greatly as Hispanic owners moved in and the renter population moved out. Not opinion but a fact.
