High hopes that Frederick will stay
I read Pete Frisbie’s June 8 letter to the editor with a great deal of interest and curiosity. As the democratic chair, Mr. Frisbie professes to know a lot about Jeff Frederick’s election as chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.

Honoring a fallen officer
Last Friday, June 6, Fredericksburg Police Officer Todd Bahr was murdered while investigating a routine domestic disturbance call. He and several other officers were on foot searching for the male suspect when he was shot. Officer Bahr’s tragic death is a stark example of the daily risk that officers face in striving to keep their community safe.

On June 3, Mr. Westhoff wrote a letter indicating Barack Obama is better suited for the presidency because he will use diplomacy and force to deal with our adversaries whereas John McCain will allegedly only use force.
Stuck on ‘stupid’
“Stupid” is such a stupid little word, and certainly politically incorrect, but it does sort of get to the heart of the matter, yes? I’m not talking about the fairly mild, almost humorous term that was used more than 15 years (and increasingly again today) in the oft-quoted “it’s the economy, stupid.” Today’s definition of “stupid” seems to cut a bit closer to the bone.
