Culpeper's Democratic Committee will host a discussion between political candidates and the public tonight at the Depot.
The regular monthly meeting will not operate as a debate. Instead, each candidate is given about 20 minutes to speak and answer questions from committee members and interested public.
Both Major Jim Branch and Sgt. Scott Jenkins, candidates for Culpeper County Sheriff, are scheduled to appear, as is Kevin Smith, candidate for Culpeper Commonwealth's Attorney.
Only independent candidates were invited to the committee's regular monthly meeting.
Next month, the committee plans on inviting democratic candidates to a social, including Sen. Edd Houck (D-Spotsylvania), Kim Williams (running for Salem supervisor) and Richard Vento (running for West Fairfax supervisor).
John Huss, committee chairman, said he will start the forum with a general question for each candidate during his scheduled time. Then candidates can communicate what they wish and answer any questions from the crowd.
He plans on asking questions related to undocumented immigrants and how the Sheriff's Office and Commonwealth's Attorney would work together.
The meeting is open to the public.
