Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is a strong, conservative Republican vice presidential pick who will bring in some undecided and independent voters disappointed by the Democrat Party’s disregard for Hillary Clinton, said one member of Prince William’s G.O.P.

“Yes, there’s a segment of Hillary Clinton supporters who are probably disappointed she was not asked to be on that ticket,” who now have a choice with the Republican’s match of Palin with Sen. John McCain, said Jeanine Lawson, vice chair of the Prince William County Republican Committee.

“From the perspective of a woman,” Lawson continued, “I’m very excited we’ve chosen a mom on the ticket who shares my conservative family values. I’m very energized by our ticket.”

Palin has been a discussed VP-pick for weeks, according to Del. Scott Lingamfelter, who represents parts of Prince William and Fauquier counties, and who is also a voting delegate for McCain’s campaign.

“I’m solidly behind Sarah Palin. She is someone I’ve been advocating for weeks,” Lingamfelter said. “She’s a strong conservative, she believes in drilling and exploiting the natural resources in our own nation … she’s pro-Second Amendment, she’s pro-life and she fits the conservative agenda to a ‘T.’”

Further, he continued, to say Palin’s selection came solely as a strategic political response to the failure of the Barack Obama camp to choose Hillary Clinton is “somewhat of an insult” to her credentials.

“Sarah Palin was picked by McCain because she was a solid conservative and she was an executive,” Lingamfelter said. “She has more executive experience than Barack Obama has senatorial experience.”

Palin has been governor of Alaska since 2006, and also served as mayor of Wasilla from 1996-2002. Obama was elected senator of Illinois in 2004 and sworn into office, January of 2005.

“I think it’s absolutely brilliant,” said Chairman Corey Stewart, R-at-large, of the selection of Palin. “She’s conservative and a conservationist. That is the new face of the Republican Party—environmental sensitivity and fiscally and socially conservative. She represents the new generation of conservatives.”

“Now we have JVA attacking someone’s family just because they decided that
abortion was wrong.“

You’re a freaking liar.  I made a comment about abstinence only education and made no mention of abortion whatsoever.  Please provide a quote and prove me wrong, smart guy.

Now we have JVA attacking someone’s family just because they decided that abortion was wrong. Incidentally in 2002 Obama was not a Senator and did not vote on the Iraq war resolution in 2003 either. He sure has voted to continue funding it though twice or is it three times? You can’t have your cake and eat it too. Sorry Joe its you i have missed i have been posting just as often as i normally and factually do. Who are you to choose who i vote for? I have only voted in one National Election. I will let you figure that one out and i have been voter eligible for 5 Presidential Elections. This would be my sixth and i am not leaning one way or the other. A nice speaker or a pretty face will not get my vote. I like substance. I have said repeatedly that i am an Independent and that is 100% factual based on my voting record. Although with her conservative values Palin is somewhat appealing. McCain is the unappealing part when it comes to values. However he does have more of a political record other than voting present. I do respect Colin Powell as well, something we can both agree on. The only halfway decent pick of Obama’s was Biden. Hillary Clinton is a manipulative Socialist. LOL Chris Cummings

“Its pretty easy to follow the prevailing wins when you are not in high National Office.“

Prevailing winds?  Obama spoke out against the war in Iraq in 2002.  It was hardly the popular opinion at the time.

He said the war would lead to “an occupation of undetermined length, with undetermined costs and undetermined consequences.“

Sounds to me like somebody with good judgement, intelligence and understanding of the world.  Too bad he wasn’t president then.

“Wouldn’t condoms and sex education be more sensible.“

Yes!  Too bad Palin is for abstinence only education.  That seems to have worked out really well for her own family.

Ah Chris, I missed you man.  It seems as if a) you are a die-hard Republican, and b) you are going to vote for McCain no matter who his second is (as most blind Republicans do).  I actually do not know whether Obama did or did not vote for the war in Iraq, but with the information that we were “told” by the White House (which I was not privy to as a military intelligence professional), I probably would have voted for the war in Iraq, ESPECIALLY with the reports coming from Colin Powell (whom I still have a great deal of respect for).  Something I heard on TV yesterday is going to be an interesting question, what is the difference of responsibility between Senator Palin and Jamie Lynn Spear’s mother?  Not much, especially since I am sure that they are forcing that boy to marry Palin’s daughter.

Hey joedabeast with Obama’s political record he can only strive to be that experienced, he just needs to stop voting present, by the way when was the last time he voted against war funding? For that matter did he vote not to go to Iraq? Was he even a Senator then. Its pretty easy to follow the prevailing wins when you are not in high National Office. As for covenant house it seems like they are encouraging teen pregnancy and absentee parents. 18 months? You might as well give them free room and board and tell them to go get pregnant again. Wouldn’t condoms and sex education be more sensible. LOL Chris Cummings

Irony & Hypocrisy.  Sarah Palin is the perfect Republican:

“Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million. Covenant House is a mix of programs and shelters for troubled youths, including Passage House, which is a transitional home for teenage mothers.

According to Passage House’s web site, its purpose is to provide “young mothers a place to live with their babies for up to eighteen months while they gain the necessary skills and resources to change their lives” and help teen moms “become productive, successful, independent adults who create and provide a stable environment for themselves and their families.“

Heckuva job, Brownie.

But Chris, don’t you think that being the runner-up to Miss Alaksa is good enough to enforce foreign policy.  Just show them some leg and wow them to the negotiation table.

khader1955, just because you do not HEAR about the VP, does not mean that there are not things going on.  Spoken like a true, un-informed American, having no idea how the government truly works (or does NOT work - LMAO).

It just makes for a closer race Mrbill. Palin is about as inexperienced as Obama. Big deal that he is from a more populated state. He also has a higher amount of voting just present instead of yes or no. What kind of political record is that? I won’t even begin to talk about the Rev. Wright and his 20 year association with him or Bill Ayers and the Weather Underground Terrorist group and Mr. Ayers subsequent hosting of a party and donations to Mr Obama’s campaign. Let us not forget McCains’ questionable divorce and the Keating 5 scandal. It takes more than a pretty face and good speeches to get my vote. LOL Chris Cummings
