Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is a strong, conservative Republican vice presidential pick who will bring in some undecided and independent voters disappointed by the Democrat Party’s disregard for Hillary Clinton, said one member of Prince William’s G.O.P.

“Yes, there’s a segment of Hillary Clinton supporters who are probably disappointed she was not asked to be on that ticket,” who now have a choice with the Republican’s match of Palin with Sen. John McCain, said Jeanine Lawson, vice chair of the Prince William County Republican Committee.

“From the perspective of a woman,” Lawson continued, “I’m very excited we’ve chosen a mom on the ticket who shares my conservative family values. I’m very energized by our ticket.”

Palin has been a discussed VP-pick for weeks, according to Del. Scott Lingamfelter, who represents parts of Prince William and Fauquier counties, and who is also a voting delegate for McCain’s campaign.

“I’m solidly behind Sarah Palin. She is someone I’ve been advocating for weeks,” Lingamfelter said. “She’s a strong conservative, she believes in drilling and exploiting the natural resources in our own nation … she’s pro-Second Amendment, she’s pro-life and she fits the conservative agenda to a ‘T.’”

Further, he continued, to say Palin’s selection came solely as a strategic political response to the failure of the Barack Obama camp to choose Hillary Clinton is “somewhat of an insult” to her credentials.

“Sarah Palin was picked by McCain because she was a solid conservative and she was an executive,” Lingamfelter said. “She has more executive experience than Barack Obama has senatorial experience.”

Palin has been governor of Alaska since 2006, and also served as mayor of Wasilla from 1996-2002. Obama was elected senator of Illinois in 2004 and sworn into office, January of 2005.

“I think it’s absolutely brilliant,” said Chairman Corey Stewart, R-at-large, of the selection of Palin. “She’s conservative and a conservationist. That is the new face of the Republican Party—environmental sensitivity and fiscally and socially conservative. She represents the new generation of conservatives.”

Governor Palin has a 80% approval rating among the citizens of Alaska, and is widely respected for her leadership. She is not afraid to ruffle feathers, even within her own party.  She is responsible for cleaning up State of Alaska government.

She has more experience as Governor for two years, running the day to day operations of her state than Senator Obama has as a Senator for three years, the last year spent away campaigning.

She has already proven her ability to run a state government, something Obama cannot come close to in his work experience as an elected official.

So are we talking about how Palin is better than Obama or if the Republican ticket is better than the Democratic ticket?  Can you compare Palin’s background to Biden’s?  I THINK NOT!!!  The conservatives are grasping at the low hanging fruit as a last ditch effort to woo borderline voters.

From the Fairbanks Alaska News-Miner:

“Most people would acknowledge that, regardless of her charm and good intentions, Palin is not ready for the top job. McCain seems to have put his political interests ahead of the nation’s when he created the possibility that she might fill it.
It’s clear that McCain picked Palin for reasons of image, not substance…“

Nothing against Mrs. Palin personally.  It sounds like she’s a smart lady, and she may have been a great mayor of Wasilla, Alaska.  But there is nothing in her biography to suggest she is ready to be President if 72 year old John McCain keels over in February.  Although if you like Bush’s social conservatism, it sounds like Palin is right up your alley.  Just say no to science!

This is a desperation pick forced upon McCain by the religious right who refused to accept any of his first choices.  Maverick?  Hardly.

As someone who can’t imagine the mind-bending horror of another 4 years of conservative values, torture, war, illegal surveillance, the largest deficit in American history, abandoning America’s veterans, hate for brown people, poor people, gay people, using the justice department for political purposes, covering up evidence for global warming, looting the treasury, breaking the military, ignoring the law through excesssive use of signing statements and on and on, I can only say…

Thank you, John McCain!

Now someone please tell her what a Vice President is.

Governor Palin is an excellent choice for VP. She kicks ass and takes names.  She is beholden to her constituents judging by her high approval rating.

She is unexperienced at all for washington and foreign police. senator Mccain kept talking about how senator Barak is unexperienced and he picked one. What if something happen to senator Mccain after he takes office if he is elected is she ready to be commander in chief like senator Biden is.???????????

and

are the same, but are totally contradicted by the comment,

to say Palin’s selection came solely as a strategic political response to the failure of the Barack Obama camp to choose Hillary Clinton is “somewhat of an insult” to her credentials….

for someone to think that Palin would have been selected if two white liberals were selected on the Democratic ticket are as delusional as many of the Republicans that will be in the Twin Cities this following week.  I am wondering who McCain would have picked if their party’s convention was before the Democrats AND Obama picked Hillary.  Definately NOT Palin.
