Del. Robert G. Marshall, R-Prince William, has received the support of 51 pro-life leaders in his quest to be the Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate.
Marshall wants to replace retiring Sen. John W. Warner, R-Va.
In an open letter to Republicans, the supporters contend that Marshall's consistent pro-life position makes him the best candidate to win the nomination against former Virginia Gov. James Stuart "Jim" Gil-more III, in a Republican primary May 29 through 31 at the Richmond Convention Center.
"By every measure, the positions that Bob Marshall has taken ... qualify him uniquely to be considered the pro-life candidate in this race," the letter stated.
The letter's undersigners include current and former members of the Virginia General Assembly, former and present members of area school boards, current and former Republican party chairmen from across the state, pro-life activists, executives, county supervisors and business owners.
Marshall also recently received the backing of the Gun Owners of America Political Victory Fund.
The organization, based in Springfield, advocates the right to bear arms under the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
In a recent press release, Tim Macy, the victory fund vice chairman, said Marshall "has demonstrated a will-ingness to put his colleagues on the spot when they are putting politics over people's safety."
The winner of the Republican primary will face former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner, the only Democrat running for the Senate seat in the November general election.

ARGH, I am not refering to the Iraqi militants that are “going to their reward” but the 100,000 common Iraqi citizens killed for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Iraq had a strong Christian population before the invasion. I’ve always wondered about the “before I formed you” quote and the purpose of Hitler, Jeffery Dalmer, Ted Bundy, George W. Bush, Timothy McVeigh and others .... Why were they sent?

FYI - We pro-lifers and our Christian God do show the same concern for all. (I knew you before I formed you in the womb, (not a direct quote, but close)). Thank God for our military who are willing to take a stand against Islam whose publicly stated goal is to wipe out all infidels (non believers). This has been going on since the time of Muhammed. And yes our Christian God does care about Muslim deaths. That’s why he sent his son to save them as well, they just refuse to accept this wonderful gift. And He care’s about legal and illegals, but Scripture requires we follow the laws of the land. (render unto Ceasar, etc). which means illegals are just that, illegal. Christians care deeply for anyone who suffers, but that doesn’t mean you can defy the law and demand rights you aren’t willing to fight your own government for. Since you’ve obviously heard Pastor Solomon’s thoughts, you might try visiting to learn ‘the rest of the story’.
Not a sermon, just an accurate response.

How amusing. An endorsement by the gun folk and the anti abortion groups.
Actually, Bob Marshall not only wants to stop all abortion but all contraception too. Don’t be mislead. He attempted to legislate away the morning after pill at JMU and has also attempted to define life as beginning at fertilization. Should Roe v Wade be overturned, and had his bill passed, most forms of birth control pills would have been made instantly illegal since many of them prevent implantation.
Additionally, women might stand a good chance of dying if they had an ectopic pregnancy.
Mr. Marshall can just keep his anti-choice self right where he is.

This is a dangerous man! He thinks that he can apply his own personal beliefs on others and demand that they adhere to them. He is the kind of so called Christian who doesn’t practice one of the tenents of Christianity-tolerance. If you don’t believe what he believes, then you are nothing and your feelings mean nothing. His actions in the Annaburg Manor case were just deplorable, and for a man who will stick his nose into a PRIVATE family issue, what’s next? Regulating your family life???

It would be nice if these so-called pro-lifers showed the same concern to those already born - such as our American military men and women losing their lives in the Bush Administration’s invasion of Iraq. Of course, it would be too much of a stretch to wish those with a Christian God would care about the 100,000 Muslim Iraqi deaths, with Christians appearently believing a number of different Gods serve the world. Pro-life means respecting all life: unborn, born, legal, illegal, Christian or otherwise. Not a sermon, just a thought.
