Cleaning out the notebook…
Now that Brett Favre has finally landed, Chad Pennington is now looking for a new home.
It has been reported at least six teams have contacted the eight-year veteran’s agent and two of those teams are Miami and Minnesota.
Favre smiled for the cameras in Cleveland on Thursday evening, the site for the New York Jets’ first preseason game of the season against the Browns.
Favre will wear his No. 4 jersey in the Meadowlands.
Fave is not the only top name to switch teams this season.
The New York Giants finally parted ways with disgruntled tight end Jeremy Shockey, who was traded to the New Orleans Saints.
And Miami sent defensive end Jason Taylor to the Washington Redskins.
So which of the three above trades will make the most difference for the teams involved?
That is simple… it’s the Green Bay Packers and the Jets.
Don’t be surprised if the Jets win more games this season than the Packers.
Aaron Rodgers has yet to prove he can stay healthy in this league. Heck, Rodgers has yet to prove very much of anything in this league.
The Packers were one win away from the Super Bowl last year with Favre. The Jets took the step forward, while the Packers took three steps back.
The Jets were 10-6 just two seasons ago and now with a future Hall of Famer as their quarterback New York could very well challenge the New England Patriots.
Buffalo is improved in the AFC East as well, while the Dolphins will bring up the rear once again.
The big winner here is New York…as in the Jets. The big loser here is Green Bay.
SPEAKING OF winners and losers, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Boston Red Sox seem to be winners with the trade of Manny Ramirez to Hollywood for Pittsburgh’s Jason Bay.
Both have settled in to their respective new teams, however, the Red Sox are winning, while Los Angeles is having trouble scoring runs.
Ramirez, however, is not having trouble hitting home runs as he blasted his fourth since joining the Dodgers on Thursday.
Pudge Rodriguez is a loser here despite being traded from Detroit to the New York Yankees.
Wednesday evening, Rodriguez, playing his former team the Texas Rangers, injured his knee applying a tag and is day-to-day… then again… aren’t we all?
