Friday night, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin dropped the ceremonial first puck for the St. Louis Blues’ home-opener against the Los Angeles Kings.
A red carpet was placed on the ice from where the players enter to center ice. An end of the carpet moved as someone stepped on it and as Blues goalie Manny Legace came onto the ice, he fell thanks to the carpet.
Legace got up and skated to his position and played the first period, during which he allowed two goals in a 4-0 loss to the Kings.
Legace had to leave the game after just one period due to what he called a strained left hip flexor.
He did not play Saturday night against Florida and the extent as to how long he will be out is still undecided.
• ISIAH THOMAS is back in the news.
Thursday night at midnight an ambulance was called to his residence where police reported a “47-year-old man” was taken to the White Plains Hospital Center.
Thomas, 47, was said to have taken 10 Lunesta pills, which he later denied doing.
Thomas said his daughter, who plays basketball at her high school, had an incident that day at school, and said for reporters to call the school and see if they will give a statement about the incident.
The school was contacted and said there was no incident at the school that they were aware of and said they did not know what Thomas was speaking of.
• SEVE BALLESTEROS, one of golf’s greats, had his third surgery Friday on a cancerous brain tumor.
The procedure on Friday took six-and-a-half hours, and doctors said it went better than expected.
Ballesteros won three British Opens, two Masters and a record 50 titles on the European Tour. Our prayers are with the Ballesteros family.
• AND FINALLY, do we really care how many knee operations Peyton Manning or Tom Brady had during the off-season?
I mean, come on. One, two, it really doesn’t matter and we really don’t care.
