Sahar Aflaki scored from 30 yards out with 1:30 left in regulation to push the Battlefield girls soccer team past Osbourn Park 3-2. Aflaki finished with two goals for Battlefield (6-1), and Jessica Jewell added a goal. Pamela Norkus had six saves.
For the Yellow Jackets, Brittany Purdham and Carly Blair each scored once, and Bethany Bayles saved four shots.
• HYLTON 5, FREEDOM 0: Sydney Morris tallied one goal and two assists to help the Bulldogs defeat Freedom. Vianka Membreno and Breiana White each had a goal and assist for Hylton (2-4-2, 1-1-1), while Morgan Mauck and Kelly Bowen each scored once. Caitlin Thomas also had an assist.
• BRENTSVILLE 5, SKYLINE 0: Ashley Grant scored three times and tallied one assist as the Tigers remained undefeated. Emma Bright added a goal and an assist for Brentsville (9-0, 8-0), and Kimmy Hopkins scored as well. Julianna Willis and Mafe Sanchez each had one assist.
• OSBOURN 3, LIBERTY 0: Shannon Dillman scored two goals as the Eagles blanked Liberty. Alicia Kohn also scored for Osbourn (6-1), and Erica Boyle and Megan Gilchrest tallied an assist apiece. Brook Thomas had two saves.
BOYS SOCCER
• OSBOURN 4, LIBERTY 0: Moris Ramirez had two goals and one assist as the Eagles blanked Liberty. Travis Pittman scored once and added an assist for Osbourn (4-4), while Jamie Botzer scored as well. Justin Innamorato had one assist.
• HYLTON 3, FREEDOM 1: The Bulldogs defeated Freedom to earn their first district win this year. Zach Rusk had a goal and an assist, while Jose Portillo and Yovani Cruz rounded out the scoring for Hylton (2-5, 1-2). Fernando Camacho had one assist, and Jonathon Sheffield had eight saves.
Jairo Calderon scored the lone goal for the Eagles and Gerardo Hernandez had 15 saves.
• BRENTSVILLE 5, SKYLINE 1: Cameron Finley scored twice in the Tigers' win over Skyline. Jimmy Ford, Bryce Heltzel and Trey Bright also scored for Brentsville (3-2-2, 3-2-1). Mike Madigan had five saves.
• GAR-FIELD 4, POTOMAC 0: Eric Amaya scored once and had two assists as the Indians defeated Potomac. Allan Aguilar, AJ Painter and Adalberto Reynoso each scored as well.
SOFTBALL
• BATTLEFIELD 4, OSBOURN PARK 0: Courtney Liddle, Brittany Black and Shannon Cleary each hit RBI triples in the Bobcats' victory over Osbourn Park. Black finished 2 for 3 and Liddle scored two runs for Battlefield (10-3, 5-2). Megan Sutphin allowed five hits and one walk while striking out four, to improve to 6-2.
• FOREST PARK 5, WOODBRIDGE 1: Five players scored as the Bruins defeated Woodbridge. Chelsea Paprocki hit and RBI triple and scored on a wild pitch for Forest Park (6-5, 2-1), while Abby Ellis, Blair Lowe and Christina Valero each contributed a run and an RBI. Melissa Carter scored as well, and tossed a four-hitter to bump her record to 6-5.
• OSBOURN 9, LIBERTY 1: The Eagles pounded out 15 hits in a big win over Liberty. Lori Botkin posted a home run and two doubles, Ashleigh Williams went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI, and Ashley Boteler drove in three runs on three hits. Also for Osbourn (6-6, 2-4), Shaela Wilhelm went 2 for 3 with 2 RBI and Jasmine Powell went 2 for 3. Boteler struck out 10, surrendering four hits and no walks to pick up the win.
• BRENTSVILLE 6, SKYLINE 3: Grace Nordan hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game for the Tigers and set up Kaitlyn Barbour's game-winning three-run home run. Devon Hileman went 3 for 3 with a double and a triple and scored the tying run. Also for the Tigers (9-1, 6-0), Nordan struck out nine on five hits and did not allow an earned run. Tory Bowley went 2 for 4 with an RBI, and Emily Neitzke and Abby Carpenter each hit a double.
BASEBALL
• POTOMAC 15, GAR-FIELD 1 (five innings): Tyler Easterly drove in four runs on two hits and Ryan Moriarty did not allow an earned run as the Panthers cruised past the Indians. Moriarty (3-0) gave up two hits and two walks and struck out seven. Offensively for Potomac (8-3, 2-1), Josh Turner went 3 for 4 with two doubles, while Jonathon Amos and Edgar Quinones each finished 2 for 3.
• OSBOURN 12, LIBERTY 2: Steven Lippman drove in two runs on three hits in the Eagles' victory over Liberty. Devon Snow had a triple and two walks, and Ben Garlick went 2 for 4. Cory Turner did not allow an earned run over six innings for Osbourn (7-4, 2-4), and struck out five while allowing three hits and two walks.
GIRLS TENNIS
• SKYLINE 6, BRENTSVILLE 3: No. 3 Jill Marianos won 10-8 and No. 6 Irene Soto picked up a 10-6 victory, but the Tigers fell short. No. 3 doubles Katie Smith and Shannon Fasing also earned a 10-8 win.
THURSDAY
BASEBALL
• STONEWALL JACKSON 6, CULPEPER 1: Josh Cesario struck out six and did not allow a walk over seven innings to help the Raiders shut down Culpeper. Cory Persohn drove in three runs on two hits for Stonewall (6-4, 3-2), and Jay Jay Zehring went 3 for 3 with a double.
