Brentsville baseball clinches Northwestern District title

Milbrook scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning, but Brentsville started a rally in the bot-tom of the inning. Justin Weaver reached base with two outs, and Justin Frazier drove in him with a triple down the right field line. Brian McBride followed with a base hit and the game-winning RBI. Weaver finished 2-for-4 for the Tigers (15-2, 11-1), Frazier scored two runs, and McBride also had an RBI double earlier in the game.
Brentsville pitching held Millbrook to six hits. Richie Lindsay scattered half of those over 5 2/3 innings, while Austin Hale picked up the win with 2 1/3 innings of relief.
• OSBOURN PARK 4, FAUQUIER 2: Matt Wainman (7-0) surrendered three hits and struck out nine to help the Yellow Jackets defeat Fauquier. George Piccirilli hit a home run and finished with two RBI for OP (16-2, 11-1), while Sam Fox collected two hits and drove in a run, and Andrew Juba hit a double.
• WOODBRIDGE 19, FREEDOM 0 (five innings): Michael Lott hit a two-run double and a run-scoring triple in Woodbridge’s rout of Freedom. Jack Larson went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, Jake Myer drove in two runs on two hits, and Tyler Bonta went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple. Joey Spadell picked up the win for the Vikings (12-4, 5-2) with three strikeouts over three innings.
• LOUDOUN VALLEY 6, BATTLEFIELD 2: The Bobcats collected eight hits, but fell to Loudoun Valley. Matt Crouse hit a home run and a double for Battlefield (11-7, 9-3), while Joey Elbisi hit a double and a triple and drove in a run. Eddie Wendle hit a triple and Danny McDonald had two hits. McDonald also struck out five batters in six innings of work.
• HYLTON 4, POTOMAC 1: Hylton’s Joel Himan tossed a complete game four-hitter with nine strikeouts and went 1-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored.
Justin Bhatti had a double and run scored for Hylton (7-11, 5-3 Cardinal) and Taylor Tekesky, Paul Boots and Chris Holmes each had an RBI.
Potomac falls to 5-3 in the Cardinal.
• FOREST PARK 15, GAR-FIELD 0 (six innings): Chris Parouse threw a one-hitter and Ryan Thomas drove in four runs on four hits as the Bruins shut out Gar-Field. Parouse (5-2) struck out 11, while Sean Gilliam collected three hits and three RBI. Joey O’Donnell had three hits for Forest Park (13-4, 7-1), while Bobby Schweir and Taylor Herrell each had a two-hit night.
BOYS TENNIS
• WOODBRIDGE 6, FOREST PARK 0: Woodbridge advanced to the Cardinal District Tournament final against Potomac by beating the Bruins on Tuesday.
Winners for Woodbridge (12-0) were Brandon Larsen (6-1 6-1), Brandon Bilewski (6-3 6-2), Greg Hawrysko (6-0 6-1), Ingu Lee (6-2 6-2), Nathan Cruz (6-0 6-1) and Paul Clare (6-0 6-0).
GIRLS SOCCER
• HYLTON 7, POTOMAC 0: Breiana White scored a hat trick in the Bulldogs’ win over Potomac. White also tallied an assist, while Stephanie Argodale, Sydney Morris and Caitlin Thomas each had a goal and an assist. Mariah Trumbull rounded out the scoring for Hylton (7-5-2, 5-2-1), while Lentie Ward had one assist. Dani Nonaka preserved the shutout in goal.
• BATTLEFIELD 4, LOUDOUN VALLEY 3: Jessye Jewell scored two goals and recorded one assist for the Bobcats (12-1, 5-0 Cedar Run).
Chrissy Powell and Sahar Aflaki scored once for Battlefield and Aflaki and Pamela Norkus had one assist.
• OSBOURN 7, STONEWALL JACKSON 0: Brittany Tatum scored four goals to lead the Eagles past Stonewall. Alicia Kohn and Erica Boyle each collected a pair of goals, while Kohn, Shannon Dillman and Candy English had one assist apiece. Megan Gilchrest also scored for Osbourn (8-2-1, 3-1-1).
• BATTLEFIELD 5, MILBROOK 1: The Tigers received goals from five girls to remain undefeated. Maria Fe Sanchez, Julianna Willis, Kimmy Hopkins, Denise Martinez and Ashley Grant each scored. Hopkins had the lone assist for Brentsville (13-0, 12-0), and Stephanie Dougher posted six saves in goal.
BOYS SOCCER
• OSBOURN PARK 4, FAUQUIER 0: Anthony Payne and Chase Ebel each scored a pair of goals to help the Yellow Jackets remain undefeated in the Cedar Run district. Drew Ruggles and Eric Wootten each had an assist for OP (10-1-2). Joey Dennis collected one save and Dylan Leygraff posted two.
• OSBOURN 5, STONEWALL JACKSON 3: Michael Wood had one goal and three assists in Osbourn’s win over Stonewall Jackson. Travis Pittman, Justin Innamorato, Jamie Botzer and Moris Ramirez all contributed to the scoring for the Yellow Jackets (9-4, 5-0), while Jon Cornwell added an assist.
• BRENTSVILLE 2, MILLBROOK 0: Christian Bradshaw and Zach Willis each scored a goal to help the Tigers defeat Millbrook. Zach Kennedy tallied one assist for Brentsville (5-4-4, 5-4-3) and Mike Madigan had three saves.
• HYLTON 1, POTOMAC 0: Frank Kuffour scored the lone goal as the Bulldogs (5-8, 4-4) won their third straight.
Zach Rusk recorded the assist and Bulldogs goalie John Sheffield had six saves.
• BATTLEFIELD 3, LOUDOUN VALLEY 2: The Bobcats edged Loudoun Valley in district play. Troy Al-laire, Thomas Mayhugh and Adam Clements each scored for Battlefield (10-2, 3-1).
• WOODBRIDGE 4, FREEDOM 1: The Vikings shared the scoring in their win over Freedom. Mardong Guevara, Andy Sofranac and Kyle Symczak each had one goal and one assist for Woodbridge (7-2-1, 5-1-1), while Gabe Mesuqita scored on a penalty kick.
James Close scored for the Eagles.
SOFTBALL
• WOODBRIDGE 14, FREEDOM 0: Melissa Martinez struck out 13 and scattered one hit over seven in-nings as the Vikings shut out Freedom. For Woodbridge (8-9, 6-2), Amanda Hernandez, Morgan Cooke, Sarah Bennet, Colleen Williamson and Allison Hill each collected two hits.
• OSBOURN 3, STONEWALL JACKSON 2: Ashley Boteler hit a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to push the Eagles past Stonewall. Ashleigh Williams earned the win for Osbourn (9-8, 5-6), striking out seven and allowing four hits. Lori Botkin finished 2-for-3, while Williams, Nikki Peros, Brittany Barlow, and Katie Brennan each picked up a hit.
