Brentsville girls take Northwestern title

The Brentsville girls track team won the Northwestern District track meet, while the boys team took second place. For the girls, Danyelle Kent-Robinson took first place in the high-jump, and tied a district record of 5’7’’. Kent-Robinson also won the 200-meter title with a time of 26.84. She took second place in the long jump (16’6’’), 100-meter hurdles (15.19), and 300 meter hurdles (47.65).
Mariama Bello took both the shot put and discus title with distances of 36.6 feet and 116.10 feet, respectively.
Maggie Gentry was the 1600-meter champion with a time of 5:12.44, as well as the 3200-meter champion (11:11.29). The Tigers’ 4 x 800 team of Caitlin Hoffman, Sarah Earman, Lauren Bussian and Amelia Emerson set a meet record of 9:42.61.
The top six finishers in each event were named all-district and qualified for regionals. All-district finishers for the Tigers were Ali Liggett (shot put), Allison Bartell (1600m, 3200m), Melissa Pascucci (high jump, triple jump, 300m hurdles), and Kelsey Ostergren (400m).
For the boys, Andre Wanzer won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.24, the 200-meter dash (22.3), and the 400-meter dash (50.74).
Ray Delgado took the 800m title in 1:59.95, and Q Murphy was the long jump champion with a jump of 20’6 1/4”. The boys’ all-district finishers were Murphy (100m, 200m, 400m, high jump), Ian Shaw and Ben Martindell (100m hurdles), Erik Kelly (100m, 200m, 300m hurdles), Chris Hull (1600m), Brian Baker (shot put and discus).
