Bruins keep rolling with sweep

One night after they defeated powerful Colonial Forge in what might have been a regional tournament preview, the Forest Park Bruins returned to Cardinal District play by sweeping Potomac 25-9, 25-21, 25-19.
The Bruins (9-6, 6-1) remain tied for first and now have significant wins over defending state champion Deep Run and Colonial Forge.
Forest Park has three district games remaining, including a pivotal match against Hylton on Thursday.
• HYLTON 3, FREEDOM 0: Emily Cashdollar combined for 17 assists, nine digs and four aces to lead Hylton to a 25-9, 25-18, 25-9 victory.
Karly Lynch had a team-high 10 kills, while Samantha Adams had five kills and three aces. Kelsey Sweeney contributed five aces and Amanda Modrisky added four kills for the Bulldogs, who improved to 11-5 overall and 5-2 in the Cardinal.
• FAUQUIER 3, OSBOURN 0: Shelby Peters played outstanding defense with 15 digs while Sheridyn Snow had three blocks in the Eagles’ 25-14, 25-13, 25-19 loss. Amanda Best paced Osbourn’s with six kills.
• CLARKE COUNTY 3, MANASSAS PARK 2: The Cougars played one of their best matches of the season in falling to Clarke County.
Alyssa Robinson was terrific running the offense with 31 assists and Leann Breeden powered her way to a team-high 20 kills. Angie Oliver finished with 16 back-row digs for Manassas Park, which fell to 9-7 and 2-6.
