Davis, Alabi advance to regional tennis finals

Stonewall Jackson’s Jimmy Davis and Osbourn Park’s Shanique Alabi advanced to today’s boys and girls Northwest Region Tournament tennis championships at E.C. Glass.
Davis won his first round match Wednesday, 6-0, 6-1 and then won his semifinal match 6-0, 6-1. He faces Monte Tiller from Patrick Henry today in the final.
Alabi won her first round match Wednesday, 6-0, 6-2 and then beat Forest Park’s Reagan Travis 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 in the semifinals. Alabi meets Kiersten Pappas of Loudoun Valley today in the final.
Alabi advanced to the region doubles semifinals as well, also to be played today. She teamed with Chelsea Gray to win 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 in the quarters.
BOYS SOCCER
• OSBOURN 6, LOUDOUN VALLEY 2: In the Group AAA Cedar Run District Tournament semifinals at Culpeper, Tommy Sangbouasy, Moris Ramirez, Corey Gough, Zach Hoover, Travis Pittman and Jamie Botzer all scored.
Michael Wood, Justin Innamorato, Mike Vierra and Pittman had assists.
• WOODBRIDGE 5, HYLTON 2: Henock Mesfin and Brian Lybert each had a goal and an assist in the Vikings’ Cardinal District semifinal win. Mardong Guevara, Paul Stinnett and Kyle Symczak scored as well, while Noah Elnagdy added an assist. Woodbridge (12-2-1) will face Gar-Field in the district tournament final.
BOYS LACROSSE
• FOREST PARK 9, BROOKE POINT 8, OT: Less than two minutes into overtime, Dane Richards scored the game-winner off an assist from Michael Padgett to push the Bruins into the Northwest Region semifinals. Richards and Padgett each finished with two goals. Corey Ferguson scored three goals, while Tyler McCullough and David Costa contributed a goal and two assists apiece. Stephen Palmateer collected 13 groundballs, and Justin Sherman recorded 10 saves.

TUESDAY LATE GAME
GIRLS SOCCER
• WOODBRIDGE 7, GAR-FIELD 0: Kristen Lybert had three goals, Rihana Williams two, and Shondel Archer one as the Vikings (15-1) won in the Cardinal District Tournament semifinals. Woodbridge’s other score came off an own goal.
Katie Douez had two assists, and Archer, Autumn Ewald and Kimmie Cummings each had one.
