Gilmer’s three-run shot key in baseball win

Hayden Gilmer hit a three-run home run to highlight a four-run fourth inning as the Brentsville baseball team defeated James Wood 7-4. Gilmer also scored two runs, while Andrew Johnson went 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs. Justin Frazier also drove in a run for Brentsville (17-2, 13-1). Rich Lindsay improved to 6-0, while Jon Desilets allowed one base runner in three innings of relief to earn his fourth save.
• HYLTON 12, GAR-FIELD 2 (six innings): Mike Tinner drove in three runs and scored twice in the Bulldogs’ win over Gar-Field. Tinner finished 3 for 4, while Paul Boots drove in two runs on two hits and scored once. Chris Holmes went 2 for 3 with two RBI for Hylton (8-11, 6-3). Justin Bhatti struck out eight and allowed two hits in six innings.
Kevin Keefer drove in a run for the Indians.
• OSBOURN 15, LIBERTY 6: Brandon Coffey drove in four runs as the Eagles beat Liberty. Cof-fey finished 2 for 4, while Travis Bruns went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI for Osbourn (13-5, 8-5). Cory Turner picked up the win to improve to 7-1.

SOFTBALL
• FOREST PARK 15, FREEDOM 0: Kristina Braxton hit a grand slam in the Bruins’ victory over Freedom. Chelsea Paprocki went 3 for 4 with a solo home run and four RBI, and Christina Valero drove in two runs on two hits. Blair Lowe scored three runs for Forest Park (10-7, 7-1), and Melissa Carter tossed a one-hitter to pick up the win.
• HYLTON 4, GAR-FIELD 1: Heather Wood went 3 for 4 and drove in two runs as Hylton de-feated Gar-Field. Tiffany Bingham collected two hits and an RBI, and Melanie Farrington drove in a run as well. Katie Barham earned the win for the Bulldogs (8-8, 5-2).
• WOODBRIDGE 4, POTOMAC 0: Melissa Martinez tossed a one-hitter and struck out 12 to help the Vikings blank Potomac. Amanda Hernandez supplied the offense with a three-run home run for Woodbridge (10-9, 7-2).
• OSBOURN 10, LIBERTY 1: Ashley Boteler hit a three-run home run in the first inning to se-cure all the offense Osbourn needed. Boteler also hit a RBI double in the fifth inning, while Brittany Barlow and Allyson Stevens each drove in two runs. Lori Botkin went 3 for 5 for the Eagles (10-9, 6-7), and Nikki Peros and Katie Brennan each collected two hits. Ashleigh Williams struck out four and allowed three hits to pick up the win, while Boteler and Stevens combined to scatter two hits in relief. 

BOYS SOCCER
• FOREST PARK 5, FREEDOM 0: Kevin Williams scored four goals in the Bruins’ big win over Freedom. Anneal Adu scored once, while Travis Henry, Walter Lorinz and Joe Gant had one assist apiece.
• OSBOURN 4, LIBERTY 0: Michael Wood scored two goals to help the Eagles defeat Liberty. Moris Ramirez and John Cornwell each contributed a goal and an assist for Osbourn (10-4, 6-0), while Jordan Stark and Justin Innamorato had an assist apiece. Chris Fenner had one save. 
• HYLTON 2, GAR-FIELD 1: Rogelio Hernandez scored both goals for Hylton, including the game-winner with one minute left in regulation. Yovani Cruz had one assist for the Bulldogs (6-8, 5-4).
Allan Aguilar scored for Gar-Field.
• WOODBRIDGE 6, POTOMAC 0: Mardong Guevara scored three goals and added an assist as the Vikings defeated Potomac. Andy Sofranac and John Meres each scored once for Woodbridge (8-2-1), while Collin Smith had a goal and two assists. Brian Lybert added two assists and Paul Stinnett tallied one assist.

GIRLS SOCCER
• BRENTSVILLE 2, JAMES WOOD 0: The Tigers picked up another victory to remain unde-feated. Jessica Bunner and Alex Flesch each scored once, while Julianna Willis and Ashley Grant contributed an assist apiece. Stephanie Dougher had eight saves for Brentsville (14-0, 13-0).
• HYLTON 3, GAR-FIELD 1: Sydney Morris scored twice to help the Bulldogs edge Gar-Field. Kelly Bowen also scored for Hylton (8-5-2, 6-2-1), while Caitlin Thomas and Vianka Membreno each had one assist.
Nicole Beck scored for the Indians.
