Sintim named a captai

Clint Sintim (Gar-Field) has been named one of four captains for the 2008 University of Virginia football season.

A linebacker, Sintim has started the past 37 games for the Cavaliers. Last season, he was third on the team in tackles (77) and led the nation in sacks for linebackers with nine.

Senior tight end John Phillips, senior tailback Cedric Peerman and junior cornerback Vic Hall were also named captains.

Potomac grad joins Majestic

Katie Watson (Potomac High School) will play for the Northern Virginia Majestics this summer.

An all-Colonial Athletic Association selection last season for Old Dominion University, Watson led the league in scoring with 13 goals and seven assists.

Watson played last summer for the Washington Freedom.

The Majestics begin their season at the Boston Renegades on May 17th.

Bulldogs win in baseball

HYLTON 9, GREENBRIER CHRISTIAN 7: In a game at Riverbend High School in Fredericksburg, Taylor Tekesky went 3 for 4 with two runs scored, while Chris Holmes went 1 for 3 with two RBIs and Justin Bhatti went 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

Bhatti picked up the victory in relief, throwing five and two-thirds innings. He struck out seven and gave up one run.

Hylton improved to 2-7 overall.

Potomac shuts out Liberty

POTOMAC 10, LIBERTY 0:  Ryan Moriarty improved to 2-0 after pitching five innings and allowing five hits and striking out five. Ryan Easterly came into the game in relief and struck out five in two innings.

Easterly was 2 for 3 with three RBIs, Tyler Covington had a double and two RBIs and Zack O'Connor was 1 for 3 with two RBIs.

Potomac is 7-2 overall.

Correction/clarificatio

In a girls tennis match Thursday between Forest Park and Woodbridge, Chelsea McClure won at No. 3 singles, 6-3, 6-1, over Woodbridge's Rachel Carr and Hayley Rahl won at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-4 over Woodbridge's Leslie Steiger.

Woodbridge's Madeline Burgos won at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-1), Meredith Peters won at No. 4 singles (6-1, 6-1), Emily Schrieber and Rachel Carr won at No. 1 doubles (10-8) and Peters and Kim Hinrichsen won at No. 3 doubles (10-5).
