Loudoun Valley ekes past Battlefield golfers

PURCELLVILLE — Loudoun Valley’s golf team edged Battlefield in a Cedar Run District mini-tournament on Monday at the Loudoun Golf & Country Club.
The Vikings’ team total of 304 was a mere two strokes better than Battlefield’s 306. Loudoun Valley was led by Brandon Deleonardis’ 73 — the best score of the day — and Scott Davidson’s 74. The Bobcats’ best effort came from Andrew Lister (74) and Justin Riley and Brent Richbourg (both 77).
The match was a crucial early test for both teams.
Fauquier and Liberty were third and fourth, while Osbourn came in fifth with a 355. In Moo Son had the Eagles’ best score, an 82. Osbourn Park was fifth with a 364; Greg Corder’s 89 led the way.
