Nordan strikes out nine in Brentsville softball win

Grace Nordan struck out nine and did not surrender a walk or a hit, but one error kept her from a perfect game in Brentsville’s 15-0 win over Handley. Nordan also drove in two runs on two dou-bles and scored three runs. Emily Neitzke drove in three runs for Brentsville (4-0, 2-0), while Ma-rissa Emerman went 2 for 3 and scored two runs. Tory Bowley also collected two hits and scored once.
• HYLTON 12, STAFFORD 8: Jennifer Belk struck out three in relief to earn her first varsity win and help Hylton defeat Stafford. Heather Wood hit a home run for the Bulldogs (3-4), while Taylor Williams posted four hits and Cat Norton collected three.
• OSBOURN PARK 3, LOUDOUN VALLEY 2: Rachael Davies hit a home run in the top of the seventh inning to help secure the Yellow Jackets’ win over Loudoun Valley. Davies also allowed only one unearned run in 3 2/3 innings of relief to earn the save. Stephanie Kestermann gave up one run on four hits to improve her record to 2-1. Lauren Stewart went 3 for 4 with an RBI for the Yellow Jackets (5-2, 1-0), while Sheila Davies scored once while collecting three hits and driving in run. Amanda Potter also contributed two hits and a run.
• BATTLEFIELD 8, FLUVANNA COUNTY 0: Megan Sutphin tossed a one-hit shutout and also went 3 for 3 at the plate to help Battlefield shut out Fluvanna County at the Sports Plus Tournament in Chesterfield. In their second game, the Bobcats (4-0) blanked Archbishop Molloy 6-0 behind a Brittany Black two-hit, 14 strikeout performance. Black also hit a two-run home run. Battlefield continues on to the semifinals Saturday morning. 

BASEBALL
• BRENTSVILLE 8, HANDLEY 1: Chase Garrison drove in three runs and Justin Frazier hit a two-run double to help Brentsville break out against Handley. Jimmy Kerns also went 2 for 3 with an RBI double for the Tigers (6-1, 2-0). Rich Lindsay (2-0) struck out four and allowed only three hits in five innings, while John Desilets pitched three innings of scoreless relief.
• OSBOURN PARK 12, LOUDOUN VALLEY 1: Andrew Juba drove in four runs on three dou-bles and Matt Wanman threw a complete game as Osbourn Park easily defeated Loudoun Valley. Wanman (2-0) struck out seven, while Ryan Heckman and Nate White each went 2 for 3 and drove in two runs apiece.
• FOREST PARK 10, CALVERT 0: Sophomore Chris Parouse (2-1) threw a two-hitter as the Bruins shutout Calvert. Taylor Herrel drove in four runs on two hits for Forest Park (4-2), while Jamie Blackwell had two hits and two RBI. Ryan Thomas also notched two hits.

GIRLS SOCCER
• OSBOURN PARK 3, FOREST PARK 0: Kelly Clark, Maryellen Derenda and Gaby Wilson each scored in the Yellow Jacket’s victory over Forest Park. Karen Bonilla contributed two assists for Osbourn Park (3-0-1), while Bethany Bayles had eight saves in the shutout.
• WOODBRIDGE 3, MOUNTAIN VIEW 1: Three different players scored in the Vikings’ vic-tory over Mountain View. Kristen Lybert, Kellsey Costello-Mays and Katie Douez each found the back of the net once, while Brianna Nottingham and Kathleen Smith added one assist each.
• BRENTSVILLE 2, HANDLEY 1: Brentsville defeated Handley to remain undefeated. Kelsi Whalen scored on a penalty kick, while Ashley Grant scored off an assist from Stacey August. Erica Propps tallied eight saves for the Tigers (3-0, 2-0).
• EMMANUEL 2, MANASSAS PARK 1: Jenn Owens scored both goals for the Flames.

BOYS SOCCER
• OSBOURN 4, HYLTON 0: Morris Ramirez scored twice to help the Eagles blank Hylton and pick up their first win of the season. Jon Cornwell and Tyler Schultze also scored a goal apiece for Osbourn (1-2), while Travis Pittman, Jammie Botzer and Ivan Alvarado each tallied an assist.
• STONEWALL JACKSON 3, POTOMAC 1: William Bioh scored two goals as Stonewall de-feated Potomac. Daniel Rundberg added three assists for the Raiders.
• HANDLEY 1, BRENTSVILLE 0: The Tigers out-shot the Judges 11-8 Saturday in a Group AA Northwestern district game. Handley scored the game’s lone goal in the 63rd minute.

GIRLS LACROSSE
• HIGHLAND ACADEMY 8, OSBOURN 1: Ginny Iames scored the lone goal for the Eagles, who fell short against Highland Academy. Amber Meek had 16 saves in goal.
