George Piccirilli hit two home runs, including a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning, as the Osbourn Park baseball team defeated Liberty 8-1 in the Cedar Run District quarterfinals. Andrew Juba scored one and drove in a run for the Yellow Jackets (18-3), while Steven Carper (6-2) struck out six and did not allow an earned run in 5 1/3 innings. Ryan Weatherholtz struck out four in 1 2/3 innings to earn his second save.
• BATTLEFIELD 2, FAUQUIER 0: Evan Scott drove in a run on three hits and scored once to help the Bobcats edge Fauquier in the Cedar Run quarterfinals. Scott also allowed five hits and struck out 10 to im-prove to 5-2. Bobby Seagears collected two hits and scored once for Battlefield (13-7), while Brandon McMahon drove in a run.
• STONEWALL JACKSON 5, CULPEPER 4: Pete Mullinax drove in the game-winning run with one out in the seventh inning to push Stonewall Jackson into the semifinals of the Cedar Run District Tournament. Buddy Fields scored the winning run for the Raiders after stealing second base. Fields finished 3 for 3 and scored two runs, while Jay Jay Zehring drove in two runs. Josh Cesario struck out five in a complete-game effort to pick up the win.
• HYLTON 11, FREEDOM 1: Chris Holmes had a two-hit day, driving in two runs and scoring once, as the Bulldogs advanced to the semifinals of the Cardinal District Tournament. Justin Bhatti drove in a run and scored twice for Hylton (9-12), while Carlos Tellez had an RBI and a run. Joel Himan drove in a run as well, while Brett Ireland struck out five and allowed two hits and three walks over three innings for the win.
• MANASSAS PARK 6, CLARKE COUNTY 0: Gipper Breedan struck out seven over seven innings to help the Cougars shut down Clarke County in the Bull Run District tournament. Breedan also went 1 for 4 with an RBI. Nate Hoffa drove in two runs, while Cody Griffith went 2 for 4 with a run scored for Manassas Park (6-11).
• OSBOURN 7, LOUDOUN VALLEY 4: Travis Lehman broke a fifth-inning tie with a two-out RBI single to help the Eagles push past Loudoun Valley. Lehman finished 1 for 4 with two RBI. Adam Gonktovic scored three runs for Osbourn (14-6), while Damien Waterman drove in a run. Cory Turner (8-1) gave up five hits and three walks in four innings for the win.
SOFTBALL
• HYLTON 12, FREEDOM 0: Leighann Jacobs was 3 for 3 with two RBI and Heather Wood was 2 for 4 with two RBI to help the Bulldogs (11-9) advance to the Cardinal District tournament semifinals.
Pitcher Katie Barham recorded the win for Hylton, going five innings, giving up two hits and recording seven strikeouts.
• BATTLEFIELD 3, FAUQUIER 0: Megan Sutphin tossed a one-hitter as the Bobcats won in the quarterfi-nals of the Cedar Run District Tournament. Sutphin struck out eight and surrendered no walks, while scatter-ing one hit. Courtney Liddle collected two hits and drove in a run for Battlefield (18-3), and Kelsie Scott scored two runs.
• GAR-FIELD 11, POTOMAC 2: Kara Arbogast drove in three runs as the Indians upset Potomac in the quarterfinals of the Cardinal District Tournament. Ali Firich collected three hits and two RBI for Gar-Field (5-15), while Ashleigh Engles struck out four and allowed six hits and two walks for the win.
GIRLS TENNIS
• LOUDOUN VALLEY 5, OSBOURN PARK 2: The Yellow Jackets fell in the Northwest Region final, but still advance to the state quarterfinals. Osbourn Park (15-3) earned wins from No. 4 Kelly Flom (6-2, 6-3), and No. 6 Michele Flom (6-3, 1-6, 6-2). OP travels to Mills Godwin today.
GIRLS SOCCER
• HYLTON 4, FREEDOM 0: Caitlin Thomas recorded a goal and two assists to propel the Bulldogs (8-6-2) into a Cardinal District semifinal against Forest Park today at Hylton.
Sydney Morris scored twice and Breiana White had a goal. Morgan Mauck picked up an assist.
• OSBOURN PARK 2, LIBERTY 0: Carly Blair and Gaby Wilson scored to lift the Yellow Jackets (9-5-2) into a Cedar Run District Tournament semifinals Wednesday at Fauquier. Time and date are to be determined.
• BATTLEFIELD 8, CULPEPER 1: Sahar Aflaki scored four goals to lead the Bobcats past Culpeper in the Cedar Run District quarterfinals. Jessye Jewell had two goals and three assists for Battlefield (15-1), while Chrissy Powell added a goal and an assist and Domonique Evans scored once. Pamela Norkus and Kaylyn Shaffer each had one assist, and Kristen Norkus had one save.
• GAR-FIELD 5, POTOMAC 1: The Indians advance to the Cardinal District semifinals with a win over Potomac. Brandy Simpson, Tammy Clark, Kathleen Flemming, Robyn Sweizer and Rhina Castaneda each scored once for Gar-Field (6-8-1). Sweizer had two assists, while Simpson added one. Laura Currie had 12 saves.
For Potomac, Brianna Hines scored and Mary Arntson had 13 saves.
BOYS SOCCER
• FOREST PARK 3, FREEDOM 1: The Bruins advance to the Cardinal District semifinals with a win over Freedom. Seth Awotwi, Anthony Brannen and Derek Niece each scored once for Forest Park (7-3-4), while Niece, Anneal Adu and Tony Williams collected an assist apiece. Patrick Nuckols picked up seven saves.
Odane Bernard scored for the Eagles.
• HYLTON 1, POTOMAC 0: Zach Rusk scored on a penalty kick as the Bulldogs edged Potomac in the Car-dinal District quarterfinals. Gustavo Sandoval had five saves for Hylton (7-9). Gustavo Zarceno collected 12 saves for the Panthers.
• OSBOURN 8, LIBERTY 1: Corey Gough and Michael Wood each netted a pair of goals in the Eagles big win over Liberty. Justin Innamorato, Zach Hoover, Kadeem Purrier and Moris Ramirez scored a goal apiece as well. Wood and Ramirez also had an assist each for Osbourn (11-4-1), as did Tyler Schultze and Jordan Stark.
