Jessica Lowman scored the game-winning goal with five minutes left in the first overtime period on Friday to lift the Osbourn Park field hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Liberty in the Cedar Run District Tournament championship game.

Lowman's seventh goal of the season also clinched a berth in the Northwest Region Tournament for the Yellow Jackets, who will play at home against Cardinal District runner-up Woodbridge on Tuesday.

"I don't think I've ever had a team that peaked like this," OP coach Kate Thomas said. "We started out so slow and weren't even in the top two at the end, but we fought hard. It felt really good to win the banner."

The district championship is the Yellow Jackets' first since 2004.

Lauren Stewart scored her 17th goal of the season in the first half and Jackie Moore earned the victory in goal for Osbourn Park.
