Potomac’s Mario Velasquez (6-3, 6-3), Ahsan Zaman (6-3, 6-4) and Ibtihaj Ahmed (6-3, 6-1) won in singles ac-tion.
The teams of O’Neil Paul and Velasquez and Sonny Patel and Ahmed both won 10-7 in doubles action.
The championship is scheduled for Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Woodbridge.
• CULPEPER 6, STONEWALL JACKSON 3: The Raiders got singles wins from No. 1 Jimmy Davis (6-0 6-0) and No. 2 Stephan Lemmer 6-3, 6-1.
Both combined to win 10-2 in doubles action.
• OSBOURN 5, LIBERTY 4: The Eagles defeated Liberty to improve to 6-7 on the year. Osbourn received wins from No. 2 Sean Campbell (6-1, 6-1), No. 3 Dan Hughes (6-3, 6-2), and No. 5 Tommy Ridgeway (6-0, 6-2). In doubles action, Campbell teamed with Kevin Primeau for a 10-3 win at the top spot, and the No. 2 team of Hughes and Rob Regan were victorious 10-6.
GIRLS TENNIS
• OSBOURN PARK 8, BATTLEFIELD 1: The Yellow Jackets (12-2) won five singles matches and three doubles matches.
Shanique Alabi (6-2, 6-0), Chelsea Gray (6-4, 6-1), Libby Butler (6-4, 6-2), Mandy Arnett (1-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) and Michele Flom (6-0, 6-3) won.
In doubles action, Alabi and Gray won 10-2. Butler and Kelly Flom won 8-0 and Arnett and Michele Flom won 7-4.
Helen Huynh earned the lone win for Battlefield (10-4), winning 6-7 (3-7), 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles.
Both teams face each other in the Cedar Run District semifinals on Wednesday at Osbourn Park.
• GAR-FIELD 5, WOODBRIDGE 4: Gar-Field edged Woodbridge to advance to the Cardinal District final against Forest Park. The Indians received wins from No. 1 Mashal Temory (6-1, 6-1), No. 4 Alecia Gaddis (6-3, 7-5), and No. 5 Jackie Meadows (7-5, 6-3). The top tandem of Temory and Gaddis won 10-3, and the No. 3 doubles team picked up a 10-8 victory.
For the Vikings, No. 2 Rachel Carr won 6-2, 7-5, No. 3 Madeline Burgos was victorious 6-3, 7-6, and No. 6 Kim Hinrichsen earned a 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 win. Woodbridge also picked up a 10-3 doubles win from Burgos and Leslie Steiger.
BOYS SOCCER
• BRENTSVILLE 6, JAMES WOOD 0: Cameron Findlay and Nick Rinderle both scored two goals for Brentsville.
Trey Bright and Christian Bradshaw also scored for the Tigers (4-4-4 overall, 4-4-3 Northwestern District) and Eric Jewell and Zach Willis had two assists each.
Brentsville goalkeeper Mike Maddigan recorded three saves.
BASEBALL
• SETON 13, WORD OF LIFE 3: Ty Fletcher allowed one run and struck out eight over three innings to earn the win for Seton (9-5). Fletcher improves to 2-0.
• BRENTSVILLE 4, JAMES WOOD 0: Chase Garrison hit a two-run double with two outs in the sixth to seal the win for the Tigers. Tyler LeGrand and Justin Frazier both finished 2-for-3, while Frazier scored one run and threw out a runner at the plate in the third inning. Jimmy Kerns scored two runs for Brentsville (14-2, 10-1). Scott Betterly threw five innings of two-hit ball to pick up the win, and John Desilets earned his third save by allowing one hit over two innings.
• STONEWALL JACKSON 15, LIBERTY 10: Stonewall Jackson’s Cory Persohn went 4-for-4 with a dou-ble, three RBI and two runs scored and teammate Tyler Jewett was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and three runs scored.
Pete Mullinax had three hits and two runs scored for the Raiders (9-5, 6-3 Cedar Run).
Josh Cesario was the winning pitcher. He struck out five in two innings.
SOFTBALL
• BATTLEFIELD 1, CULPEPER 0: Shannon Cleary drove in the Bobcats’ winning run with a double in the fourth inning. Megan Sutphin earned the win with a complete game one-hitter, allowing one walk and striking out three. Kelsie Scott made a fifth-inning game saving catch for the Bobcats (14-3, 9-2) in deep centerfield.
• STONEWALL 6, LIBERTY 0: Melissa Kirby struck out 13, while surrendering only three hits and a walk to help Stonewall defeat Liberty. Ashley Smith went 3-for-4 and scored two runs for the Raiders (12-3, 7-3), who had nine hits.
• BRENTSVILLE 15, JAMES WOOD 0 (six innings): Abby Carpenter drove in four runs and Grace Nor-dan tossed a two-hitter as the Tigers were victorious over James Wood. Carpenter finished 4-for-4 and scored two runs, while Nordan (6-0) struck out 10 and did not allow a walk over six innings. Kaitlyn Barbour went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI for Brentsville (12-1, 9-0), and Melissa Wood hit a two-run double.
GIRLS LACROSSE
• OSBOURN 10, STONEWALL JACKSON 0: Corrie Mitchell scored three goals to help propel the Eagles past Stonewall. Megan Vahey contributed two goals, two assists and eight ground balls. Ginny Iames and Kel-sey Ibarrientos scored two goals apiece, while Iames added an assist and Morgan Campbell scored once for Osbourn (7-7, 2-5). Ava Elborhamy had five ground balls, and Amber Meek picked up 10 saves.
For the Raiders (0-8, 0-6), Aurea Galvan had 15 saves.
• BATTLEFIELD 16, OSBOURN PARK 6: The Bobcats (11-2, 6-1 Cedar Run) received six goals and four ground balls from Jessica Jacobson and Morgan Clark had three goals and 11 ground balls.
Ali Schumacher and Kim Esteban both had two goals for Battlefield. Bobcats goalie Caitlin Hester recorded 16 saves.
Kacie Nolan and Katie Gonzales had three goals and two goals, respectively for Osbourn Park.
• POTOMAC 13, WOODBRDIGE 3: Maggie O’Neill tallied six goals and an assist as Potomac defeated Woodbridge. Megan Hofer and Crystinn Kennedy each scored twice in the Panthers’ (6-6, 3-2) win. Ariel Happy, Kelly Harlow and Palina Gurung scored one goal apiece, while Happy and Gloribel Bonilla paced the defense.
• HYLTON 13, GAR-FIELD 8: Karly Lynch had five goals and Kaitlen Brown three to lead Hylton (4-1 dis-trict, 5-5 overall) to victory.
Hytlon’s Tia Daubach had two goals and Lauren Fletcher had two goals and three assists.
Hylton goalkeeper Nicole Carpenter had 14 saves and Maddi Hentshell recorded three goals for Gar-Field.
The Cardinal District Tournament begins Wednesday with Freedom and Potomac playing at 5:30 p.m. and Gar-Field and Woodbridge at 7 p.m. Both matches will be at Hylton.
BOYS LACROSSE
• WOODBRIDGE 7, POTOMAC 0: The Vikings secured second place in the Cardinal District with a win over Potomac. Michael Herrity scored four goals, while David Estoclet had two goals and an assist. Devin Bushweller scored once for the Vikings (6-6, 4-1), and Drew Bouchard had four assists. Aaron Bradley had eight saves, while Austin Thomas saved 18 shots for Potomac.
• FOREST PARK 18, FREEDOM 1: The Bruins picked up a big win over Freedom to finish the regular season undefeated in the Cardinal District. Landon Jones scored four times and added an assist, while Nate Cofsky added two goals and two assists. Seniors T.C. Leary, Alex Downs and Marcus Tedesco each scored two goals, while Tyler McCullough added one goal and three assists for Forest Park (11-1, 5-0). Ryan Kim, Stephen Palmateer, Brian Padgett, Casey Murdock and Corey Ferguson rounded out the scoring.
Peter Rodriguez scored for the Eagles.
SATURDAY’S GAME
BASEBALL
• SETON 6, MILLER 4: Sean Byers hit a game-winning two-run double in the seventh inning as Seton picked up its biggest win of the season. Seton, ranked eighth in the state among the Independent Schools Base-ball Association, defeated the number four Division 2 team behind a strong six-inning performance by Michael Byers.
Byers (4-1) allowed three runs on three hits, while striking out five and walking two. Byers also went 3-for-4 with a run driven in, while Jack Shannon went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Ty Fletcher escaped a bases loaded jam with no one out to pick up the save.
