Brentsville girls win in 2 (OT)

Julianna Willis scored with 15 seconds remaining in double overtime to give the Brentsville girls soccer team a 3-2 win over Sherando. Ashley Grant and Kimmy Hopkins each added goals in regulation, while Kelsey Reighard tallied two assists for the Tigers (2-0 overall, 1-0 district). Erica Propbs recorded 14 saves.

BOYS SOCCER

• BATTLEFIELD 1, FOREST PARK 0: Adam Clements scored on an assist from Matt Plum to push Battlefield past Forest Park. Alan Hinton and Michael Hinkle combined for the shutout as the Bobcats improved to 2-0.

• BRENTSVILLE 1, SHERANDO 0: Jimmy Ford scored on a bicycle kick in Brentsville's victory over Sherando. Julian Coy posted the assist, while Mike Madigan had six saves in goal for the Tigers (1-0-1, 1-0).

SOFTBALL

• STONEWALL JACKSON 1, GAR-FIELD 0: Melissa Kirby tossed a no-hitter and drove in the game-winning run to help the Raiders edge the Indians.  Britney Orsborn scored the lone run for Stonewall Jackson (2-0) after hitting a sixth inning double. Kirby struck out 11, while Gar-Field pitcher Ashleigh Engels surrendered only four hits.

• BRENTSVILLE 8, SHERANDO 3: Tyler LeGrand drove in two runs with a triple and a solo home run as Brentsville defeated Sherando. Hayden Gilmer finished 3 for 3 with two doubles, while Justin Weaver scored two runs for the Tigers (3-0, 1-0). Rich Lindsay picked up the win with six strikeouts over four innings, while Scott Betterly and John Desilets combined for six strikeouts in three innings of relief.

• BRENTSVILLE 8, SHERANDO 0: The Tigers lost their first match of the season at Sherando. No.1 Stephanie Dunn lost her singles match 8-10, while the No. 1 doubles match ended early.

• FREEDOM 3, BROOKE POINT 2: The Freedom girls soccer team posted the first win in the program's three-year history with a victory over Brooke Point. Alyssa Hester scored twice for the Eagles (1-1), while Yessenia Condor added one goal.

Girls lacrosse

• OSBOURN 6, HYLTON 5: Brandy Brode scored two goals, including one in the final two minutes, to help Osbourn pull out a win over Hylton. Ginny Iames also scored twice for the Eagles, while Corrie Mitchell and Kelsey Ibarrientos added one goal apiece. Amber Meek posted 12 saves for Osbourn.

Lauren Fletcher and Carly Lynch led the Bulldogs with two goals each, and Emily Cashdollar scored once.

Storm halts SEC Tournament

A severe storm ripped away two panels in the side of the Georgia Dome during the Southeastern Conference tournament, sending debris falling from the ceiling, halting the Alabama-Mississippi State game and prompting fans to flee for the exits.

The teams were sent to the locker rooms, while those who remained at their seats looked anxiously toward the roof. The game was stopped with Mississippi State leading 64-61 with 2:11 left in overtime.
