Schweir tosses no-hitter for Forest Park

Bobby Schweir carried Forest Park’s baseball team to a 10-0 win over South County. He threw a no–hitter with 10 strikeouts and one walk.
His record improves to 3-1.
Jonathan Wright helped the Bruins (5-2) with three hits and an RBI.
• BATTLEFIELD 7, CULPEPER 6: Matt Crouse was the winning pitcher as he pitched five in-nings before giving way to Danny McDonald in the sixth inning.
• OSBOURN PARK 8, STONEWALL JACKSON 2: George Piccirilli led the Yellow Jackets with a home run and two RBI. Kevin Soltis had two RBI and a double. Sam Fox had a double and Zach Bargeron went 2-for-3.
Steven Carper was the winning pitcher for Osbourn Park (7-1, 2-0 Cedar Run). He pitched six in-nings and recorded 12 strikeouts.
Tyler Jewett and J.J. Zehring had two hits for the Raiders.
Crouse also doubled and singled and Evan Scott and Brandon McMahon hit solo home runs for the Bobcats (3-5, 1-1).
• SETON 3, POTOMAC SCHOOL 2: Seton pitcher Michael Byers recorded 13 strikeouts and al-lowed four hits to lead Seton (3-3) to victory.
Michael’s brother Sean had an RBI on a sacrifice fly.
Seton’s Ty Fletcher went 2-for-4 with a double and run scored and Colin Gannon had a double and the game-winning sacrifice fly.
Potomac scored runs on a passed ball and steal of home.
• POTOMAC 11, LIBERTY 1: Jonathan Amos went 3-for-4 with three RBI as the Panthers moved to 4-2 on the year.
Potomac’s Edgar Quinones went 3-for-3 and Tyler Covington had a three-run home run and four RBI.
Tyler Vieira was the winning pitcher. He allowed one run in three innings and Tyler Easterly and Ryan Moriarty combined for six strikeouts in three innings.
SOFTBALL
• STONEWALL JACKSON 10, OSBOURN PARK 1: Raiders pitcher Melissa Kirby threw a complete game with 9 strikeouts and gave up four hits, hit one and walked one.
Stonewall Jackson’s Ashley Smith went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored.
The Raiders are 5-0, 1-0 in the Cedar Run.
GIRLS TENNIS
• OSBOURN PARK 9, OSBOURN 0: Osbourn Park girls tennis improved to 3-1 this year with a perfect afternoon against Osbourn (0-2) Wednesday, winning all nine matches versus the Eagles. The Yellow Jackets were led by Shanique Alabi as the team’s No. 1 seed as she won 6-0, 6-0.
Chelsea Gray (6-0, 6-2), Libby Butler (6-0, 6-1), Mandy Arnett (6-0, 6-0), Kelly Flom (6-0, 6-0) and Michele Flom (6-0, 6-0) helped complete the sweep in singles.
Alabi and Gray teamed up in doubles for a 10-0 victory as the top pairing for OP while Butler and Kelly Flom added a 10-2 win. Arnett and Michele Flom also won in doubles, 10-0.
• WOODBRIDGE 7, HYLTON 2: The Vikings won their first Cardinal District match of the sea-son thanks to wins from five of their six singles players and winning two of three doubles matches.
Rachel Carr (6-1, 6-1), Madeline Burgos (6-3, 6-0), Meredith Peters (6-0, 6-1), Kim Hinrichsen (6-2, 6-0) and Mary-Grace Sunga (6-1, 6-0) all recorded victories in singles play.
Burgos and Hinrichsen won their doubles match as well, 10-1. The Vikings, who improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in district play, also added a 10-1 win with the Peters-Sunga team.
The Bulldogs’ two wins were from No. 1 May Gourley (6-1, 6-0) in singles and No. 1 doubles team Gourley and Akiva Fitzgerald (10-8).
• FOREST PARK 7, POTOMAC 2: Forest Park (1-0) won five of six singles matches to record a Cardinal District win.
Forest Park’s Reagan Travis (6-1, 6-0) Chelsea McClure (6-0, 6-0), Katrina Brown (6-2, 6-1), Hayley Rahl (6-0, 6-1) and Grace Baldwin (6-4, 6-2) all recorded singles victories.
Travis and Beth Snodgrass won 10-1 at No. 1 doubles and McClure and Brown won 10-2 at No. 2 doubles.
GIRLS SOCCER
• FOREST PARK 1, BATTLEFIELD 0 OT: Delaney Tomczak scored the lone goal in overtime off a corner kick with two minutes left in the second overtime.
Battlefield goalkeeper Kristen Norkus had five saves and Forest Park goalkeeper Sarah Gray had four saves.
Battlefield fell to 2-1.
BOYS TENNIS
• WOODBRIDGE 7, HYLTON 2: The Vikings remain unbeaten this year with their first Cardi-nal District win of the year. Brandon Bilewski won his singles match 6-6 (8-6), 7-5 as well as his doubles tilt with Greg Hawyrsko, 11-10. Hawyrsko added a 6-0, 6-0 singles victory also to go with wins from Ingu Lee (6-4, 6-4) and Paul Clare (6-3, 6-1).
Lee and Larsen registered a 10-6 win in doubles and Nathan Cruz and Eric Obeng paired for a 10-3 victory.
Anshawl Pauli and Daniel Arnez scored wins for Hylton with 6-4, 6-4 and 6-3, 6-3 respective re-sults.
BOYS LACROSSE
• FOREST PARK 16, BATTLEFIELD 5: Landon Jones scored four goals and recorded an assist as the Bruins improved to 2-0.
Corey Ferguson, Tyler Jones and David Costa each scored three goals with Costa adding two as-sists.
Tyler McCullough recorded a goal and a team-high five assists and Marcus Tedesco and Michael Padgett scoring once each.
Justin Sherman made nine saves in goal.
Andrew Felt scored twice for the Bobcats and Matt Mullins found the back of the net once to go with an assist. Britt Hoover and Corey Scarborough also scored once each.
• OSBOURN 11, CENTREVILLE 4: Matt Sutton scored five goals and Mason Smith and Kiel Cooke both had three goals as Osbourn (5-0) remained perfect.
Cooke also picked up three assists.

Who wrote this article?  Why are the sports (baseball, softball, tennis) all mixed together.  Sloppy writing.
