Clement O’Reilly and Frank Spicers earned all-state honors with top-20 finishes on Friday as the Seton School boys cross country team placed sixth at the Virginia Independent Schools Division II state championship meet.
The Conquistadors’ girls team placed sixth behind top-25 finishes from Rachel Lambrecht and Alex Cummings.
BOYS SOCCER
• HIGHLAND 1, SETON 0: A ball that deflected off a Seton defender led to the game’s only goal as Highland School captured the Virginia Independent Schools Division II state championship on Friday with a 1-0 victory over the Conquistadors.
Seton, which captured the Delaney Athletic Conference championship, reached the final as a No. 4 seed and finished the season at 13-2-3.
VOLLEYBALL
• COVENANT 3, SETON 2: The Seton School volleyball team was three points away from reaching the finals of the Virginia Independent Schools Division II state tournament on Friday before Covenant rallied for a 19-25, 25-23, 17-25, 22-25, 15-9 semifinal victory in Lynchburg. Sarah Sewell combined for 11 kills, seven aces and 21 assists for the Conquistadors, who finished 19-8 overall.
Marion Lozano had 22 kills and Kaitlyn Kohlhaas finished with nine kills.
FOOTBALL
• MADISON COUNTY 41, MANASSAS PARK 13: Brandon Livingston scored both of Manassas Park’s touchdowns in the fourth quarter as the Cougars wrapped up the season with a loss to Madison County. Corey Swanson connected with Livingston for both TDs.
