• Age: 18
• Year: Senior
• Accomplishments: The anchor in the Vikings’ lineup gave Woodbridge a powerful 1-2 punch with first baseman Joey Spadell; both could turn around a game in one swing. He was an important key to the pitching staff as well; his two-hit, 10-strikeout effort got the Vikings into the Cardinal District final. He was named the district’s Player of the Year — he was on the first team as both a pitcher and a third baseman — and was a first-team All-Northwest Region selection at third base.
• What was your most memorable moment from the season? “As a team, it was winning our spring break tournament. For me personally, in the top of the seventh at that game, I hit a two-run home run to take the lead ... Our team had worked so hard in the offseason and we played our hearts out ... It was a nice way to start the season off.”
• In what area did you improve the most from last year? “Pitching-wise. I didn’t pitch much in my first three years, but one of our pitchers, Tyler Stout, went down with an injury early and it was nice to be able to step in ... This was the first offseason that I didn’t have an injury, so I was able to train and work out. I came in in better shape and stronger than I had in the past.”
• Who has influenced you the most in baseball? “I’d probably say my brother [Brian]. He introduced me to baseball at a really young age and I grew up watching him. I traveled with him when he was on his AAU team and I watched how he played and his mentality.”
