Osbourn Park scored three runs in the bottom of the eight to pull past Osbourn for a 5-3 victory. Michelle Menefee and Amanda Potter reached on a walk and a single, respectively, to set up freshman Amanda Meade’s RBI single. Jasmine Bailey followed with a two-run double to seal the victory for the Yellow Jackets (6-4 overall, 2-2 Cedar Run). Meade finished the day 2 for 3, while Bailey also had a two-run triple in the fifth inning. Stephanie Kesterman struck out three and surrendered eight hits to improve to 3-1.
Ashleigh Williams tossed eight innings for Osbourn, while Missy Bill and Jasmine Powell each collected an RBI single. Shaela Wilhelm went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, and Nikki Peros scored once.
HYLTON 7, FOREST PARK 2: Taylor Williams led the Bulldogs on the road, going 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and two RBIs.
Tiffany Bingham added two hits, including a homer and two RBIs, while Heather Wood was 1 for 3 with a double and an RBI.
Katie Barham improved to 3-2 after giving up five hits and two runs.
Hylton is now 4-5 overall and 1-0 in the Cardinal District.
WOODBRIDGE 3, GAR-FIELD 0: Colleen Williamson (3-1) recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed one hit Friday in the Vikings’ Cardinal District opener.
Amanda Hernandez had three hits for Woodbridge (3-4, 1-0).
BOYS TENNIS
WOODBRIDGE 9, GAR-FIELD 0: The Vikings improved to 6-0 Friday.
Brandon Larsen won at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-2 followed by Brandon Bilewski at No. 2 (6-3, 6-0), Greg Hawrysko at No. 3 (6-0, 6-1), Nathan Cruz at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1), Paul Clare at No. 5 (6-1, 6-2) and Eric Obenga at No. 6 (6-2, 6-2).
In doubles, Bilewski and Greg won at No. 1 (10-4), Larsen and Cruz won at No. 2 (10-2) and Neil Logan and Stan Bonta won at No. 3 (10-6).
GIRLS TENNIS
BRENTSVILLE 9, CENTRAL 0: For the Tigers, Stephanie Dunn won at No. 1 singles (10-1) followed by Anna Boning at No. 2 (10-2), Kelsey Brewster at No. 3 (10-1), Jill Marianos at No. 4 (10-2), Katie Smith at No. 5 (10-2) and Irene Soto No. 6 (10-2).
In doubles, Dunn and Boning won at No. 1 10-0, Brewster and Marianos won at No. 2 10-6 and Soto and Priyanka Joshi won at 10-2. Brentsville is 2-4 overall.
WOODBRIDGE 5, GAR-FIELD 4: Woodbridge won at No. 2 singles (Rachel Carr, 6-4, 6-3). No. 3 singles (Madolyn Burgos, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4), No. 4 singles (Meredith Peters, 6-2, 6-2), No. 6 singles (Kim Hinrichsen, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6) and at No. 2 doubles (Burgos and Leslie Steiger, 10-4).
For Gar-Field, Marshaul Temory won at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0), Jackie Meadows won at No. 5 singles ( 6-2, 6-2), Temory and Alesia Gaddis won at No. 1 doubles (10-5) and April Santos and Meadows won at No. 3 doubles (10-8).
Woodbridge is 3-2 overall, 3-1 in the district.
GIRLS SOCCER
TRINITY AT MEADOWVIEW 4, CHRIST CHAPEL 0: Brigid Hasson, Dorothy Earner, MaryCatherine Twetton scored goals and picked up another off an own goal.
Goalie Anni Dibert had 31 saves for Christ Chapel (2-2-1).
WOODBRIDGE 6, PATRICK HENRY 0: Kristen Lybert and Nicole Chapman scored two goals apiece as the Vikings blanked Patrick Henry. Autumn Ewald and Brianna Nottingham also scored for Woodbridge (5-1). Lybert added two assists, while Rihana Williams, Kellsey Costello-Mays, Shondel Archer and Taylor Miller each had one assist.
BRENTSVILLE 8, CENTRAL 0: Emma Bright and Kelsey Reighard each scored twice to propel the Tigers to victory. Denise Martinez, Alex Flesch and Sarah Cox tallied one goal apiece, while Stephanie Dougher added an assist for Brentsville (7-0, 6-0). Central did not take a shot on the night.
BATTLEFIELD 9, STONEWALL JACKSON 0: Jessica Jewell found the back of the net three times in the Bobcats’ win over Stonewall Jackson. Sahar Aflaki, Emily Heston, Domonique Evans and Pamela Norkus each contributed a goal and assist for Battlefield (4-1), while Rachel Heffernan and Kaylyn Shaffer also added a goal apiece. Alex Latham and Kristen Norkus combined to post Battlefield’s fourth shutout in five games.
BOYS SOCCER
BATTLEFIELD 2, STONEWALL JACKSON 1: Thomas Mayhugh contributed a goal and an assist as the Bobcats defeated Stonewall. Vuhy Pham scored the other goal for Battlefield (6-0), and Matt Plum had one assist.
BASEBALL
WOODBRIDGE 12, GAR-FIELD 2 (six innings): Jake Myer and Michael Lott hit two-run homers in the fourth and fifth innings as the Vikings (7-2, 1-0) won their Cardinal District opener on the road Friday.
Matt Smith was 1 for 1 with a three—run double in the sixth and Tyler Stout was 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Myer improved to 3-0 as a pitcher, going five innings, allowing one run and striking out four.
POTOMAC 12, FREEDOM 2: Tyler Vieira (2-0) picked up the complete-game victory after striking out eight and allowing four hits.
Tyler Covington led the Panthers (6-2, 1-0 in Cardinal District) with two hits and three RBIs, while Ryan Easterly had two hits and three runs scored.
BATTLEFIELD 5, STONEWALL JACKSON 3: Evan Scott struck out 10 and gave up two hits in 3 1/3 innings of relief to help the Bobcats shut down Stonewall Jackson. Starter Danny McDonald struck out six and surrendered three hits. Matt Crouse drove in two runs and swiped two bases for Battlefield (6-5, 4-1), while Bobby Seagears had two hits and a stolen base and scored twice. Brandon McMahon had a two-hit day and drove in a run.
FOREST PARK 5, HYLTON 4 (nine innings): Jamie Blackwell drew a walk and eventually scored on an overthrown pickoff attempt to give the Bruins an extra-inning victory. Blackwell and Taylor Herrell each hit a home run for Forest Park (7-3, 1-0), while Herrell finished with three hits and two RBI.
BRENTSVILLE 9, CENTRAL 7: The Tigers (9-1, 5-0) remained unbeaten in the Group AA Northwestern District after a victory on Wednesday. Sophomore Justin Weaver went 4- for-4, scored three runs, had a triple, two stolen bases, two RBIs and hit his first varsity home run, a two-run shot.
Tyler LeGrand was 2 for 4 with three runs scored and a triple as well.
John Desilets got the win after coming into the game in relief. Desilets (3-0) pitched three innings, gave up four hits, one run, one walk and had three strikeouts.
