A few surprises came out of Friday night’s round of games including Freedom’s victory over Stonewall Jackson, 25-24.
Deon Jones of Freedom rushed for 204 yards on 37 carries to lead the Eagles to victory.
Freedom quarterback Lamar Howard also had a big night completing seven of 21 passes for 146 yards. He did, however, throw four interceptions.
Defensively for the Eagles, Joel Francis returned a Stonewall fumble 30 yards for a touchdown.
• STONEWALL JACKSON’S defense and special teams came up with some big plays.
Defensively, Sean Blackman returned an interception 62 yards for a Raiders’ touchdown, while on special teams Percy Faucette returned a kickoff 94 yards for another touchdown.
• OSBOURN PARK quarterback Dominique Terrell was at it again Friday night, as he rushed for 166 yards on 13 carries and a pair of touchdowns, as the Yellow Jackets defeated Gar-Field 23-7.
Overall, the Yellow Jackets’ offense rushed for 296 total yards.
• BRYCE MILLER of Gar-Field led the Indians in rushing with 110 yards on 22 carries and a single touchdown.
• WOODBRIDGE’S De’Antwan Williams was at it again Friday night, rushing for 132 yards on 26 carries and a pair of touchdowns.
So far this season, Williams has rushed for 649 yards on 85 carries and 13 touchdowns.
In three games he is averaging 218.3 yards per game, and just over four touchdowns per game.
Also for the Vikings, quarterback Frank Buckley was 12 of 22 for 132 yards.
Defensively for Woodbridge, Demetrius Quarles intercepted an Osbourn pass and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown.
Rommel Burks and Isiah Simmons each had a fumble recovery for the Vikings.
• Battlefield’s Bo Revell had a big night Friday night, leading the Bobcats to a 27-21 victory over a tough Hylton team.
Revell was 14 of 23, for 242 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Blaine Mason was battlefield’s top receiver with just two receptions for 114 yards and two touchdowns.
Matt Plum had eight receptions for 108 yards for Battlefield.
Teammate Adrian Ingram had a touchdown and 167 yards on 26 cararies.
• HYLTON’S Andre Coleman had two receptions for 115 yards, while quarterback Joel Himan was 17 of 29 for 266 yards and two touchdowns.
Kevin Wheeler also got into the act Friday night with seven receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown.
• BRENTSVILLE’S David Hammond rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown in the Tigers 53-13 loss to Broad Run.
Quarterback P.J. Borko threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Chris Spinks.
• FOREST PARK’S Mic-hael Raynes scored the Bruins’ lone touchdown on a 1-yard run as time expired.
• THURSDAY NIGHT, Quantico lost to the Virginia Lions 26-20.
However, quarterback Brenton Roberts completed nine of 13 passes, for 231 yards and two touchdowns to keep the Warriors close.
Trey Blackson caught all nine of Roberts’ passes for 231 yards and both touchdowns.
