To commemorate the anniversary of 9/11, Gar-Field High School will allow men and women in the military who wear their uniforms to attend for free Friday night's varsity football game against visiting Battlefield. The game begins at 7:30 p.m.
In addition, the National Guard will fly a helicopter in before the game and it will remain there on display during the game.
Evangel volleyball wins tourney
The Evangel Christian volleyball team rallied from a two-game deficit to capture the Back To School Tournament championship with a 22-25, 24-26, 26-24, 25-19, 15-7 victory over Fresta Valley.
The Eagles, who have no seniors this year's team, went 4-0 overall.
"They are young, but I think they are going to be a good team," co-coach Tim Morrow said. "The girls really hung in there and didn't give up."
Jasmine Morrow, who led Evangel with 20 kills, nine blocks and nine aces, was named to the all-tournament team along with Janette Lambert (20 assists), Amber Taylor (12 kills, nine blocks) and Krissy Lambert (six aces).
