Stonewall Jackson High School’s Krystal and Hailey Smith were selected to attend the Adidas Futures National Camp last weekend at the Snow Canyons Complex in St. George, Utah. They were among 100 softball players chosen for the event, which is designed to give players a chance to play in front of colleges and receive an athletic scholarship.
Dean named GM at Occoquan
Aaron Dean has been named as the new general manager for Occoquan Swimming. Originally from Alaska, Dean won a state champion in Alaska and Washington state before going on to compete at Northern Arizona University. At NAU, Dean was a USA Swimming National Qualifier and NCAA Division I qualifier.
Forest Park grad on CAA team
C.J. Sapong (Forest Park) was named to the Colonial Athletic Association men’s soccer team. A sophomore forward at James Madison University, Sapong was the CAA Rookie of the Year last year after tying for the league lead in goals. He also led JMU in points with 21 and game-winning goals with three.
Potomac downs Park View
The Panthers won Wednesday, 25-16, 25-15, 23-25 and 25-19 to improve to 2-2. Katie Scheulen had 10 kills and four blocks for Potomac.
