Potomac falls to Salem

The Salem Avalanche used home runs from James Van Ostrand and Collin DeLome Saturday night to defeat the Potomac Nationals 7-4 in Carolina League action.
Both Van Ostrand and DeLome had a pair of RBI for Salem.
Potomac held a 1-0 lead until the bottom of the fifth when the Avalanche plated five runs and never trailed again.
The Nationals managed only one extra-base hit, with Brian Finegan collecting a double.
Michael Martinez, Francisco Plasencia and Daniel Lyons each had an RBI for the Nationals.
Potomac tried to rally with two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth, but in the bottom of the eighth Salem added two insurance runs to secure the victory.
Zack Segovia (1-1) suffered the loss for Potomac, while Salem’s Douglas Arguello (6-3) collected the win.
Christopher Salamida recorded his sixth save of the season for the Avalanche.
Tonight, Potomac sends Joe Norrito (6-1) to the hill to face Salem’s Corey Bass (3-10) at 6:07 p.m.
